This data is directly from new clients this year that came to us looking for better bookkeeping services.

Most of the books we looked at had been done by other bookkeepers/companies. Whenever a new business owner comes to us with previous books, we 𝘼𝙇𝙒𝘼𝙔𝙎 audit them based upon our standards and practices.

Almost 100% of the time, we find discrepancies.

Here’s just a few examples, we had 2 different roofing companies come to us with the major flaws in their bookkeeping.
Both had super inflated sales revenues due to deposits for invoices being duplicated when they were paid instead of the bank deposits matching the invoices to match and balance them out.

1 company was over $200k extra in profit and the other was over $340k!! These guys would have paid 20-30% in taxes on that additional revenue…

Here’s a few helpful steps you can take for proper bookkeeping: ⁣

1. Use an accounting software, I recommend Quickbooks Online. (I can get this for you for 50% off, send me a message if needed!) ⁣
2. Keep business and personal accounts SEPARATE! ❌⁣
3. Link business accounts (bank and credit cards) to Quickbooks ⁣
4. Start categorizing expenses/incomes into the proper places ⁣
5. Use the Receipt snapshot tool on the Quickbooks app to upload all business receipt purchases. You can also match these receipts to the transaction in Quickbooks. 🧾⁣
6. Generate reports like a Profit and Loss statement to keep on top of your numbers for budgeting and limiting tax liabilities.⁣

When we first started working with Nate’s Suite Stays, a short term rental business ran by a husband and wife, they had this google document and a pile of receipts. 🧾 ⁣

This was a great start 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 getting more organized, implementing Quickbooks software, and to start tracking the true profit and loss 📊happening in their business. ⁣
