Dr Strickland and the MCH team are in Uganda with our partners from the university. We deeply value this collaboration, and enjoy seeing these familiar faces each year that we get to go back! Here the MCH team is giving some hands-on teaching on ultrasound to students of the university.

We’re more than halfway through July, the first month for our new class of Maternal Child Health fellows. Our mission and values are to instill excellence in patient care and clinical knowledge in these willing physicians, and they are doing wonderfully!

Lots of learning, donated supplies, and collaboration occurring with our partners in Uganda this month. The Maternal Child Health team, led by Dr Alexander, is grateful for the teams we get to partner with there!

Dr Alexander and the Maternal Child Health residents have safely made it to Uganda to continue our yearly partnership with the hospital and university there. We are exited for another year of working together!

Sometimes didactics, the teaching given by our Maternal Child Health faculty for our residents, just has to be done outside on a pretty day. Learning goes better with a little sunshine!

Did you know a well-trained Family Medicine physician can both deliver babies and give medical care to patients admitted to the hospital? Here are 3 of our female attending physicians in the Family Medicine residency program who are in charge of patients in the hospital this weekend, and 2 of them routinely deliver babies on our Maternal-Child Health service as well!

The Maternal-Child Health faculty had a visit today from Dr Kent Brantly, one of our favorite past faculty members! Our patients, residents, and faculty alike all miss him here in Texas, but are excited to hear about the work he and his family are doing to care for patients in Zambia, Africa!

Dr Ehrlich shares a special moment today with a patient and her newborn! Acclaim Maternal Child Health - Fort Worth, Texas We are board-certified Family Medicine physicians with advanced training in Obstetrical (Pregnancy) Care, Women’s Health, and Pediatrics, called “FM-OBs,” or Family Medicine physicians with Obstetrics.

The MCH team had another successful ALSO (Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics) class with our partners at UTSW in Dallas. Alums and current faculty alike gathered to teach incoming family medicine interns about life-saving techniques in the pregnant patient. It’s a joy to teach the next generation of physicians!

Dr Strickland, one of our excellent residents, had the joy and privilege of caring for and delivering these twins, and he will now get to care for them as they grow. Dr Su has been privileged to be a part of this family’s care during so many stages. She cared for the parents during their pregnancy, helped deliver these handsome twins, and has watched them grow as their P*P. Today, July 1st, was the start of a new class of MCH residents! We are so excited for the future of these doctors and the patients they’ll impact over their careers. We are also delighted to teach a new generation of doctors about the joys of caring for a family during their pregnancy journey!

The May team of the Maternal-Child Health group, including Dr Krumm and residents, have arrived safely in Uganda and are eager to learn, teach, and collaborate with our partners!

Our Maternal-Child Health team has safely sent Dr Alexander and Dr Krumm, as well as several of our residents, to learn, teach, and contribute in Uganda. We are committed to helping improve infant and maternal care, both locally and globally, and are grateful for the chance to work with our overseas partners again.
