Strong & Supple Spine
Hosted by Dr. Tiffany Denny
Saturday, June 8 | 2-4pm | $60/person

Your spine is an incredible structure. It allows you to move your trunk when you need to twist or bend, and it’s part of the framework for your sturdy trunk when you need to hold steady. It tolerates and transmits a multitude of forces and motions every day, whether you’re reaching for that dog toy under the couch, moving furniture, playing your favorite sport, or rocking dancer pose. It’s easy to think of strength and mobility as mutually exclusive qualities, yet each is a component of the other! Your body needs to be able to produce force and tolerate force through various ranges of motion depending on the task at hand. Mobility is something that you can train both on and off the mat, and is a great approach to your movement work whether you want to gain strength, range of motion, or both.

In this workshop we’ll talk about what contributes to a spine that feels good and moves well, and I’ll share both specific, basic practices that you can do anywhere, as well as principles that you can apply to your chosen physical activities.
Workshop attendees will receive a written list of specific practices as well as a link to video demonstrations to help you make use of them at home.

Your instructor for this workshop is Dr. Tiffany Denny, a yoga instructor and physical therapist who has been helping people with movement for over 15 years.
Space is limited, advanced registration is encouraged - link in bio.

Learn The Art & Science of Yoga Class Sequencing

What are the special elements of a great yoga sequence? It’s more than just knowing the poses. It’s understanding, for example, why warmups matter, how to use them, and how to progressively move toward a complicated or challenging pose — working with students at any level of practice.

In Urban Yoga’s Teacher Training 200, you will receive knowledge, guidance, and practice on sequencing topics including:

Centering and bringing focus to a class
The importance of warm-up poses and how to sequence them
Categories of poses and how they compare or contrast with each other
Basic sequence templates for all levels of practice
Templates for more challenging poses or for special practices
Why and how to move from the simple to the complex

In-studio sessions will run from January through May, on the second and third weekends of each month — Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday afternoon. (Except in March, when the sessions will take place on the first and third weekends, to accommodate Spring Break.)

Are you ready to dive deeper into your yoga practice or become a certified yoga instructor? Visit our website at www.urbanyogafw.com/teacher-training to learn more and reserve your space now.

Early bird pricing through Dec. 20, registration deadline Dec. 31.

The Whole of the Human Experience Is at the Heart of Great Yoga Teacher Training.

Any yoga teacher training will tell you how to sequence poses. A great program starts with the belief that yoga is as much about your life off the mat as on it — as much about living a more abundant life than about getting people into pretzel poses.
That’s why Urban Yoga Teacher Training 200 weaves together insight and training in:

- Breath techniques (pranayama)
- The Seat of Teacher (observation skills, effective demonstrations, teaching beginners, and more)
- Class planning
- The key elements and actions in asana (poses), including categories, restoratives, and advanced poses
- Themes and theming that give classes heart
- Sequencing for different class goals
- Yoga philosophy
- Effective languaging
- Adjustments
- Anatomy and movement
- Yoga therapeutics

In-studio sessions will be one Saturday and Sunday afternoon each month — Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday afternoon. (Except in March, when the sessions will take place on the first and third weekends, to accommodate Spring Break.)

Yoga Teacher Training For Non-Teachers? You Betcha!

Great Teaching Isn’t the Only Goal of Great Teacher Training. Sure, a great teacher training program will start participants on the path to becoming great teachers. But it also delivers a transformative experience for non-teachers. The right program is the perfect opportunity to:

- Fine-tune or expand your yoga teaching skills
- Deepen your personal practice and understanding of yoga
- Study anatomy and movement, yoga philosophy and history, breath practice and meditation, how classes are structured — and what makes a great yoga instructor

All of that and more is offered through Urban Yoga Teacher Training 200, a 200-hour program taught with experience and creativity and designed to engage all types of learners at all stages of yoga practice and knowledge.

In-studio sessions will run from January through May, on the second and third weekends of each month — Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday afternoon. (Except in March, when the sessions will take place on the first and third weekends, to accommodate Spring Break.)

What You'll Get

Regardless of your age or level of yoga — even if you've never done a stitch of yoga in your life you can thoroughly immerse yourself in either or both of these restorative yoga journeys.
