Last week, Jarrell Independent School District welcomed the return of its historic 1916 Building with a ribbon cutting that came 14 months ahead of schedule!

A building with deep meaning to the Jarrell community, the 1916 Building was the district's schoolhouse for nearly a century before closing its doors for more than a decade when Jarrell High School opened in 2007. Thankfully, the community sought restoration of the establishment as part of a 2021 bond package.

In June 2023, Jarrell ISD formed a committee with the intention of capturing the building's meaningful history and renovating it for future service. With its reopening last week, Jarrell welcomed back a piece of its cherished past and new future.

We had a blast connecting with WiOPS at their annual golf event in Placentia, CA hosted by Bernards! As the only architect/CM there, it was a pleasure to be joined by representatives from Long Beach USD, Fullerton Joint Union High School District, Anaheim Union High School District, and many MORE districts for a day of golf lessons and networking.

We continue to be inspired by WiOPS and the outstanding group of women working towards the future in the operation side of construction, and we are grateful for such a wonderful event!

A dynamic addition and renovation, the new Frisco CTE Center wing elevates education with a new state-of-the-art Vet Med Classroom and expansion of numerous programs like eSports, animation, architecture.

Renovations to key areas included turning training rooms into general classrooms, upgrading to more efficient HVAC systems and controls, and adapting A/V Sound Control Rooms for virtual learning.

We had an amazing time celebrating Montgomery Independent School District's Creekside Elementary School ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday! Moreover, we are so thankful for the heartfelt shoutout from the campus's principal— who shared all who were involved exemplified our mantra of being "MORE than Architects"!

A planning process as revolutionary as the facility itself! Instead of schools, the design team, the Forney ISD cabinet, and others behind the Opportunity Central (The OC) toured Las Vegas's Downtown Container Park, the Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, and local coworking/event spaces–gathering insights into innovative and functional designs that integrate community and flexibility.

With new vision to reshape traditional schools, Huckabee designers spent eight months turning findings from their travel into concepts and images, starting the design in sections rather than with a spreadsheet.

The resulting ideas and solutions were applied to the OC–ensuring it would become the eventual dynamic educational facility it is today.

Last week, we celebrated the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Hays CISD's new Jim Cullen Elementary School! The school is named after Jim Cullen, a cornerstone of the district's educational community.

Cullen is a retired Hays CISD teacher, past president of the Texas State Teachers Association chapter, and long-time member of the Hays Education Foundation. We were honored to join him at the opening of his namesake school!

Last week, Huckabee's Jenny Harrison and Andrew Ulmen attended the rededication of Rosemead High School's Auditorium to the Vikki Carr Performing Arts Center. Renovations are set to begin in 2026, and will bring improvements including a new exterior plaza, remodeled lobby, and improved audio, sight, and lighting.

Carr, a multi-Grammy winning award-winning artist, graduated from Rosemead High School in 1958, and performed a small number during the rededication—sharing some wisdom with current students as well: "Kids, when you want something in life go for it...The sky is the limit for what you want in your life. Don't be deterred."

“It is so amazing that I am here to see this,” shared Dr. Jimmie Don Aycock as he received a personalized, school-branded letterman jacket during Killeen ISD's ceremonial ribbon cutting at his new namesake school.

Dr. Jimmie Don Aycock Middle School is the district's 13th middle school, and will serve as an impactful tribute to the former state representative and retired veterinarian when it opens this fall!

Buckle your chinstraps! After 55 years of playing home games elsewhere, the La Sierra High School Eagles will soon have a football stadium of their own. With a design inspired by the school's eagle mascot, Huckabee's Daniel Flores says "...we created a building that has a feel of flight similar to an eagle getting ready to take off,”
