We are so so proud to be a part of this fantastic organization!
Thank you to Tier 1 Sponsor Fowlkes, Norman & Associates Landscape for supporting ZDR3! In addition to being a generous sponsor, they have an arborist team that stands ready to respond to a call for assistance. When we asked why they are so dedicated to our mission, here’s what they told us:
ZDR3’s motto, “We Are Stronger Together” says it all. There are overwhelming challenges when disaster strikes an animal facility-challenges to both the animals, and their caregivers.
Historically, Fowlkes Norman’s involvement in the exotic animal industry has been in the creative design, building, and horticultural maintenance of animal venues and facilities, so it is natural that we feel not only a sense of responsibility, but also a passion for supporting zoo communities when natural disasters or catastrophic events strike.
ZDR3 provides our company a way to give back to the exotic animal industry and its facilities. Being a part of a vital network that can mobilize an abundance of resources quickly to stabilize a catastrophic situation is truly an honor.
The ZDR3 teams and support that are available to animal facilities nationwide are specially there to aid, relieve pressure, comfort, and serve in any way possible, from debris removal to fence building, to animal stabilization and security, down to to providing meals and emotional support for staff, they offer so much and have filled a niche that the industry was missing.
Fowlkes Norman is and will continue to be a proud ZDR3 sponsor!
We are Stronger Together
We are so happy with how this landscape project turned out! And just in time for Spring.

Now that we are finally getting a break in the heat, let us make your porch fall ready 🍂🍁
A charming Southern home with a beautiful veranda in the back that leads out to a long, but narrow backyard needed some creative ideas on how to transform this space into an entertaining haven.
We designed two different concepts that created separate spaces over three levels for entertaining and relaxing. Elegant staircases and walkways connect each space. And a central lawn area for play was also incorporated into both concepts. Which one is your favorite?
We love designing intimate courtyard spaces like we did for this home. All of the outdoor spaces were being underutilized so we came up with two different concept designs for the entire property. Which one would you choose?
Here is an intimate courtyard space imagined three different ways…the client wanted a space for a new seating area to chat with neighbors and to be surrounded by new planting areas. Which one would you choose?

It’s going to be a beautiful weekend.
We installed this seasonal color planting along the Entry Bridge into Fort Worth Zoo last week. The new Elephant Springs exhibit opens April 15th! Come check it out.
And for the final design element we created for this modern property - custom corten steel planter boxes with agaves and seasonal color to frame and accent a custom built fireplace. Our clients can now sit by the pool and enjoy a nice fire 🔥
Happy Friday and have a fabulous Easter weekend everyone! 🐰
Next is a water feature by .international We custom built a foundation for it using corten steel and Mexican beach pebble. And to soften the materials we used dwarf mondo grass and other small plantings around it to create a clean and modern focal feature.
Happy hump day!
This week we are highlighting a popular material we use a lot - corten steel. This property showcases a few different design elements we created made of corten steel. Also known as weathered steel, it was designed to eliminate the need for paint and if left outside, exposed to the elements, it will develop a rusted appearance in a short period of time.
