OUR HISTORY
Founded in 1991, the Alliance Air Show was known as the Fort Worth International Air Show and was produced by the Aviation Heritage Association, a nonprofit organization. The Aviation Heritage Association was under contract with the City of Fort Worth to conduct the air show for the local North Texas Community. The mission of the Heritage Association was to dedicate funds to building
Today, we celebrate the birthday of The National Guard! The National Guard has been dedicated to serving our country during times of national emergency and war for the last 387 years. Thank you for your service in defending our nation.
Please take a moment today in honor of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day to remember and honor the 2,403 Americans who lost their lives 82 years ago today.

Richard E. Byrd Jr. was born on this day in 1888. He was the first man who was credited with flying to the North Pole in his Fokker trimotor airplane. He was also a recipient of the Navy Cross.

On this day in 1920, Howard Rinehart was the first pilot in the U.S. to fly an airplane that was fitted with retractable landing gear. He was flying a Dayton-Wright RB-1 Racer.

On this day in 1960 Major Robert M. White flew at an altitude of 136,500 feet in the North American Aviation X-15 rocketplane. This exceeded the previous record of 126,200 feet.

On this day in 1975 the last operational Douglas C-47 Skytrain transport that was in service for the United States Air Force was retired and taken to the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
The aircraft was in service for nearly 35 years.
On June 27, 1941, Major Stanley M. Umstead flew the experimental Douglas XB-19 long-range heavy bomber from Clover Field in Santa Monica, California to March Field in Riverside County.

The annual not-for-profit Bell Fort Worth Alliance Air Show is one of the largest and most successful air shows in the nation. This all-encompassing community event attracts more than 120,000 attendees annually; showcases our nation’s armed forces and Dallas-Fort Worth’s important aerospace and aviation industries; promotes education and workforce development programs across the region; and provides the very best in patriotic family entertainment.
Alliance Air Productions, a 501(c)(3) organization and producer of the air show, is a subsidiary of Hillwood, the developer of the 26,000-acre AllianceTexas project that is home to Fort Worth Alliance Airport.
