This KAC PVS-30 was just retubed by us for a customer with a L3Harris 4um MCP unfilmed WP Image Intensifier.

The overall image quality of this unit isn’t anything like a typical Omni VII PVS-30. Having a low light resolution of 91lp and a signal to noise ratio of 38.5, that puts the FOM of this particular unit at 3504!

The high lp resolution results in a sharp detailed image whilst the high SNR level provides a low noise background. Making this one of the best retubes we have done.

The B.E. Meyers MAWL DA (Modular Advanced Weapon Laser - Direct Action) is a high powered weapon mounted infrared laser/illuminator and visible green laser.

This laser aiming device was engineered with ergonomics in mind. Despite being slightly large and a little on the heavy side for a weapon mounted IR laser, the ease of use with the interface and being practically indestructible outweighed the size and weight issues we originally had. Being 150mW, the MAWL DA is good for long range and can be turned down enough to be used inside 50 yards with minimal bloom. In our opinion, this is currently one of the best flood illuminators on the market. The MAWL DA is also equipped with a green visible laser for day use.

This PVS-22 came to us with a dead tube and a rattle can paint job. All work was done in house which includes the rebuild, coating and engraving. Now this particular unit carries our lifetime warranty and is on the way to it’s owner.

The PEQ-2a was the go to aiming laser/illuminator in its time. It was replaced by the PEQ-15 because the PEQ-15 has a smaller footprint and visible aiming laser. Now, in my opinion, the Wilcox RAID Xe is the best carbine laser/illuminator on the market. The RAID Xe has an even smaller footprint than the PEQ-15, adjustable power output for the laser and illuminator, customizable pressure switch, and a very nice flood illuminator that is accessible without having to flip a cap over the illuminator like most other laser/illuminators.

Here at Sure Shot Night Vision we broke the cycle over a year ago on the PVS-30s. There are dozens of our re tubed 30s in customers hands and we haven’t had one single problem yet. Sure the Pvs-30 with a 16xx-20xx FOM tube does a great job, but it does MUCH better with a 27xx FOM unfilmed L3 wp image intensifier!

The KAC UNS-SR is the smallest and most compact Night Vision Clip On on the market. It pairs perfectly with an Acog, VCOG, Elcan, LPVO or even an aimpoint sight.

This unit showed up to our shop as a used unit with a green ITT tube with mediocre performance. Yes it worked and did it’s job as it should but who wants to be basic!? We disassembled the unit completely, cleaned it, re wired it properly for the new tube and installed an Elbit white phosphor tube in the place of the old ITT. Upon completion of the tube install we properly re collimated the unit within spec and sealed it back up and purged it. Then it got its fresh coat of black Ceracoat as requested by the customer. For the last step, we laser engrave all of the factory markings back into the unit to look factory again before heading back to the customer!

The PVS-17 variant of night vision scopes are lightweight and perfect for a carbine from 50-200 or so yards. The PVS-17b pictured here has a magnification of 2.25x and FOV of a generous 20 degrees. A good dedicated NV weapon sight will always provide an amazingly clear and crisp image and the PVS-17 definitely earns its keep in image quality as well. The reticle is a red dot similar to most aimpoint sights and the elevation/windage adjustments on top of the housing make this optic very easy to zero with no need for tools. This unit can also be controlled with a pressure pad remotely mounted to your rifle to power the scope on only when you need it to save battery life. We will have a limited run of these PVS-17b units and will install any tube you desire for your unit. Housings are all used with great condition glass with no problems. These, just like all other builds by us, will carry our lifetime service warranty and we are offering a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty on these as well. The Flir SXR long range night vision clip on device. Think of this unit as half AN/PVS-27 and half AN/PVS-30. The objective lens was designed by Flir to be similar to the objective lens of a AN/PVS-30, however the body and rear is virtually identical to a AN/PVS-27.

When it comes to a short range clip on, the Knight’s Armament UNS-SR is by far the smallest and lightest option on the market. Weighing in at 1.25 pounds and reaching a maximum magnification of 6-8X, it’s an amazing clip on. But here at Sure Shot Night Vision we like making amazing clip ons even better by retubing them with high spec, white phosphor image intensifier tubes.

The KAC Pvs-30! The one pictured here is also known as the Pvs-30 refurb. The Pvs-30 refurb is actually a Pvs-26 that identifies as a 30 but that’s a story for another day.

The Pvs-30 is what one could call a king of long range night vision clip ons. It can’t be described without using the words long and heavy but the image and reliability make up for that.

These clip ons can utilize a magnification range of roughly 3-20x on your day optic. The objective lens focus isn’t the easiest thing to reach while trying to maintain proper cheek weld but when you get it focused just right the sharp image should make up for some of the not so great ergonomic design.

When you hold the 30 you can tell you have a quality optic in your hand. Weighing in at 2.9lbs, it does have a good bit of weight to it but not quite as much as the PVS-27 weighing just over 3lbs. The weight plays a huge role in the recoil rating of this optic. If it were substantially lighter, like the 2124-LR, it wouldn’t be able to handle BMG recoil like it can.

One of the best, if not the best, thing about the 30 is that the collimation is rock solid. Meaning if you buy one, the collimation is almost always going to be near perfect and it will likely never shift. This is made possible by the prism/ collimator design. Being collimated optically via wedge lenses and locked down with epoxy these things can take a beating and never shift collimation.

If your wanting what I consider to be the absolute best possible image that a night vision clip on can offer, come see me about getting a high spec unfilmed L3 image intensifier installed into your 26/30. A really good tube in this excellent optical and reliable housing will net you a beautiful image, that is extremely durable.

The Pvs-27! Also referred to as the MUNS (Magnum Universal Night Sight). This particular clip on is known for being one of the best light gathering clip ons of all time. If there’s any ambient light whatsoever the F1.0 Catadioptric objective lens will find it and deliver it to the image intensifier. Thus allowing the IIT to perform to its best ability, even in very low light conditions. Capable of reaching a magnification range of about 3-20 (conditions being the deciding factor on max magnification achievable) these clip ons have proved themselves to be one of the best long range clip ons ever made. All of those great compliments come with one definite trade off, it’s no petite optic. Weighing a few ounces over 3lbs it definitely adds a chunk to the front end of your rifle. If you’re planning to get out to or beyond 1000 yards at night with a night vision clip on, this optic would definitely have to be considered. Let us stick a high spec L3 unfilmed WP tube in one for you and performance is unbelievably better!
