UpSpire is expanding! Not only does the new Warehouse service line allow UpSpire to expand our business, it allows us to employe a whole other group of people needing work.

“There was a sector of our population that, unfortunately, we were missing,” states Daryl R Davis II , Vice President of Workforce and Career Development, “and so [adding] the warehouse gave us the opportunity to employ individuals who are facing challenges with many of our labor-intensive opportunities that they aren’t able to do.”

The kitchen staff of Presbyterian Night Shelter, along with a good numbers of volunteers, put out over 1,750 meals each day. This includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner for our Shelter guests across our campus, lunch for True Worth Place guests, and brown bag lunches for our UpSpire crews. One of the key ingredients in each and every meal: Compassion. This month's video gives a little insight into how our crew manages to keep people fed, and how the generosity of our donors and vendors is vital to the success of the program. #MoreThanJustaMeal #kitchen #meals #shelter

Finding Success through Housing Solutions
Housing Solutions, or HoSo, is a program of Presbyterian Night Shelter that provides long term supportive housing with wraparound services for individuals with disabilities. This "housing first" model underscores the importance of getting someone into a home first, and then addressing other underlying issues that may affect their housing stability. See how some are finding success through this important program! #housingfirst #housingsolutions #wraparoundservices

🔔 🎉 Every Monday morning, staff gather at the chapel to ring the bell in celebration of our guests who moved into their new homes the previous week. Today we rang the bell 38 times! That’s 23 adults and 15 children that ended the cycle of homelessness! We are so grateful that our guests allowed us to help them on their journey, we couldn’t do this work without the support of our loving community and the work of our tremendous team. 🏡 #guidingthejourneyhome #Woohoo

Volunteers recently held a cooking class for our guests to attend at True Worth Place. What a great opportunity for guests to gain cooking skills while having fun at the same time!

Dear Friends of Presbyterian Night Shelter, I receive many letters each year, most letters include lists of toys, gadgets, instruments, and the occasional mythical creature. Then there are the letters I receive from children who are experiencing homelessness; those lists include some of the things that I mentioned before, but usually the list includes needs, not “things” you find beneath the Christmas tree. Requests for a safe home, a job for mom or dad, or a birthday cake take a little more coordination – I’m grateful that the staff at Presbyterian Night Shelter work collaboratively to meet these needs for the children and their parents. There are many requests for peace, love, happiness, and togetherness – requests for JOY. Friends, this is where Presbyterian Night Shelter and I depend on YOU to help us bring JOY to the children staying at the Shelter. For the 98 children staying at the Morris Foundation Family Services Center, JOY means the feeling of peace, love, happiness, and togetherness. I know that YOU have been working hard to bring JOY to the children at the Shelter. I saw the JOY in their heart during my visit, this JOY is possible because of the love, care, and compassion you send the children and their parents. Thank YOU! The JOY of Christmas goes deeper than the excitement of presents, the delicious smell of Christmas cookies, and beautiful lights wrapped around the tree. Thank you for sharing your time, talent, and treasure so that families at Presbyterian Night Shelter find JOY during the holidays and all year long. Merry Christmas, -Santa
