More Massachusetts testing labs will need greater uniformity, says lab chief - Grown In 11/18/2022

It’s been nearly a year since the publication of this article, and over two years since the CCC privately acknowledged the lab fraud problem. Meanwhile, we continue to see inaccurate data and fraudulent passes in the Massachusetts testing program.

The purpose of lab testing in cannabis is for consumers to have real data and safe products. If this fraudulent activity is allowed to continue, there is no purpose to the testing program at all.

We are hopeful that the Cannabis Control Commission will take swift action to protect consumer safety.

If you have thoughts on this issue, consider sharing them with the MA Cannabis Advisory Board via this survey - the deadline to respond is Monday, Nov. 21: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfMpXj-zv4Q7ebZcp3m7hKv7daXWmiiQghehLiyLivz9WCHKg/viewform

More Massachusetts testing labs will need greater uniformity, says lab chief - Grown In "If a second lab out there provides lower fail rates overall, then of course, operationally, financially, it makes a lot of sense to move to a laboratory which finds fewer problems in the samples that come in.”

“Hot H**p” May Just Sizzle Out: New Bill Introduced To Improve US H**p Production Provisions 06/15/2022

H**p farmers have been beholden to the 0.3% THC limit since the 2018 Farm Bill. This arbitrary limit created quite a hurdle for farmers who risked losing their entire harvest if it contained more than 0.3% THC 🍁

Fortunately, the recently proposed H**p Advancement Act would raise that limit to 1% THC, allowing for much needed flexibility when processing the product 🙏

Commercial Cannabis Labels Often Don’t Match Chemical Reality, Study Finds 06/03/2022

A recent study found the traditional classifications of and to not be an accurate picture of what is in a product.

Researchers found that actually provide consumers with better insight into their products.

“These results indicate that even a simplistic labeling system, in which THC-dominant samples are labeled by their dominant terpene, is better at discriminating samples than the industry-standard labeling system,” the researchers wrote.
