Our Story

The Massachusetts Regional STEM Networks bring together public and private K-12 schools and districts, public and private higher education institutions, business and industry, regional employment/workforce investment boards and non-profit organizations around STEM to address local education and workforce needs. As a regional system, managed by the Department of Higher Education under the direction of the STEM Advisory Council, the networks play a key role in cultivating interest and engagement in STEM activities in their regions, particularly among business, community and school leaders.

The MetroWest STEM Education Network (MSEN) was established in 2007 and it has had its hub at Framingham State University since then. In 2016 the nine regional networks were reorganized and MSEN collaborated with the Central Massachusetts Network as one of the five network regions. In Summer 2018 MSEN successfully applied to join the global STEM Learning Ecosystems Community of Practice (SLECOP) that includes 67 other Ecosystems.
