James D. Quarles, MD
I am an internist in Frankfort, KY who is affiliated with MDVIP. I provide personalized, preventative care to patients in central KY.
My goal is to be there for my patients when they need me. If they need to be seen in the clinic quickly, I will be there. If they are in the hospital, the nursing home or need me at their home, I will be there. I want to get back to the “old school” way of being a doctor, where the doctor is there on the other end of the phone when you need them. I want to be with my patients at every step of their life, and help them live longer, healthier lives.
If any of my patients have a new year’s resolution for weight loss, and need something to kickstart the process, we are now offering the semaglutide (generic for Ozempic) injections. Give the office a call and get scheduled, and we can discuss what will work best for you.
Old school Medicare plus a supplement is the best in my opinion for my 65+ patients. I have to fight Anthem, Humana, and United every day.
Help me wish Rita a Happy Medical Assistant’s Day!! Without her, we couldn’t exist!

Thank goodness I work at a skilled nursing facility. I was able to get my shot early on. When your shot becomes available, go get it! Let’s end this thing and get on with our lives!
We are slowly starting to reschedule our physicals and routine follow up visits that we have had to postpone due to covid-19. Here are a few changes we have made to keep our patients safe:
-all patients are required to wear a mask or facial covering of some sort in the office...we will wear our’s also!
-we will take your temperature at the door
-only one person allowed in our waiting room at a time
-if you have any respiratory symptoms whatsoever, or need to be tested for covid-19, please call the office from the parking lot and we will be happy to assist you
We can also do routine check-ups via telemedicine. Please continue social distancing and stay home when you can. Be safe and stay healthy!
I let them out for some fresh air every now and then.
Frankfort (and Facebook) impressed me yesterday!! My wife Meg sent out a request for N95 masks so our office could safely see our sick patients, and we received an overwhelming response. Thank you to everyone who donated masks, and thank you to everyone willing to help! This reassures my faith in our community. I love my city! Stay home and stay well!
Hey guys, due to the corona craziness, we are postponing most of our routine physicals. If you have an MDVIP physical coming up, or an insurance physical soon, please call the office and we will get you rescheduled a couple of months down the road. We are reserving the next few weeks for our sick patients. Please stay home, stay six feet away from others, and stay well! Call us if you need anything at all! 502-227-8681
