Disposable, flavored v**es are not supposed to be sold in the U.S. The Food and Drug Administration began cracking down on va**ng in 2020, by requiring e-ci******es get regulatory approval in order to sell. To date, the agency has authorized only 23 specific e-cigarette products, all of which are to***co-flavored alternatives to ci******es, targeted at adults.

Yet illegal products — most notably the disposable and flavored v**es that are most popular among youth and young adults — remain widely available, online and in stores.

"This is an industry that is very motivated to stay in business and continue marketing products that are highly addictive and heavily flavored," Marynak says.

The rise in va**ng reversed declines in ni****ne use among teens and young adults; cigarette smoking has been declining since the late 1990s, but it has been substantially replaced for young people by newer ni****ne technologies. Today 16.5% of high school students use some kind of ni****ne product and 14% v**e.

They're illegal. So why is it so easy to buy the disposable v**es favored by teens? The FDA cracked down on the ni****ne devices, yet they're stocked on many store shelves. The reason has to do with burgeoning overseas production, lack of clear rules, and lax enforcement.

Their findings — published in the journal PLOS One this week — is that in 79% of the societies for which there is data, women were hunting.
Moreover, says Wall-Scheffler, this wasn't just opportunistic killing of animals that the women happened upon. The vast majority of the time, she says, "the hunting was purposeful. Women had their own toolkit. They had favorite weapons. Grandmas were the best hunters of the village."
The implications of these results are potentially enormous, says Kimberly Hamlin, a professor of history at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio who specializes in ways that evolutionary science has figured in the wider culture.
"I think that next to the myth that God made a woman from man's rib to be his helper, the myth that man is the hunter and woman is the gatherer is probably the second most enduring myth that naturalizes the inferiority of women," says Hamlin.

Ashland mother and daughter trapped in Sudan as violent military conflict continues Pre-school teacher Trillian Clifford and her 18-month-old daughter were living happily in Sudan when suddenly a military conflict erupted into violence throughout the capital. The two have been trapped and sheltering in place as the conflict continues.

Trillian Clifford is a young American teacher in Khartoum, Sudan. She is trapped, without electricity, with food and water running out, in the middle of what is now a war zone. She is alone, except for her 18 month old daughter. And she is justifiably terrified for her child.

She, and the other US Embassy teachers, are not US Government employees. The school teachers for the embassy are contract workers for a private firm.

The US Government has told them they are on their own. No rescue mission is planned.

These Americans were hired to teach at the US Embassy school. Their students are US and international citizens.

There is no way for them to get out.

The situation is Dire. Shelling is all around them. Gunman with machine guns are roaming the streets. People are invading homes seeking water. All hospitals are bombed out. The US Embassy won't let them in for shelter. The airport has been bombed.
