FASP Law & Legislation Committee Meeting and Bill Tracking Report, July 2024

We will be having an FASP Law & Legislation Committee meeting on Friday evening, 7/12/24 at 7:00 pm, at the Lewistown Fire Academy as we did last year.

Attached is a copy of Tom Santanna's latest Bill Tracking Report for your review prior to the meeting. As of this writing, the reauthorization of the Fire & EMS Grant program remains our top priority. The program expired at the end of June. The Republican House passed Senate Bill SB1099 and sent it to the House where it was assigned to the House VA&EP Committee and has not been taken up. The Democrat House passed their own bill HB2407 and sent it to the Senate.

The Senate bill reauthorizes the program as it existed. The House bill expands the program and adds additional funding recommended by the Governor.

Regards to all and looking forward to seeing you next week.
