The Venango County United Way will once again partner with local hair stylists to hold their 6th Annual Back to School: Hair Affair!

The event will be held August 19th - August 22nd at participating salons throughout the area. During the event, stylists donate their time to offer free basic haircuts to any child or youth aged 4-18 in Venango County. Salons this year include; Brenda's Salon, Siverly Barber Shop, DC Salon, LLC, Razors Edge, and Underground Beauty Lounge. Backpacks, school supplies, and water bottles are being generously donated by Bill Baker.

Parents who would like to schedule their child’s appointment can do so by contacting PA 2-1-1, starting on August 1st. All appointments will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis. United Way asks that participants arrive for their scheduled appointments five minutes beforehand to ensure schedules stay on track.

United Way is gearing up for our 2024 Summer Career Camps and looking for sponsors to make these camps possible. Each week of camp includes business tours, classes and presentations, activities and games, and a business lunch at Bella Cucina.

Camps are available, free of charge, for all Venango County students in grades 6 - 10. Meals, snacks, transportation, and supplies are all included. This year's career clusters include Agriculture, Transportation, and Tourism/Hospitality. The goal of the camps is to educate students on economic ecosystems in our region while helping them explore different career options.

Sponsorships may be made online at unitedwayvc.org or by mailing a check to PO Box 303, Reno, PA 16343. Please call the United Way office at 676-6545 with any questions. Registrations for camps open May 1st, 2024.
