I had the opportunity to work with a great client on this project. She had her laundry set up nicely in the basement, but why take all those trips up and down the stairs? As we grow older, we start to appreciate having things like our laundry rooms closer to where we actually need them.

We were able to help this client who was willing to lose a little bit of closet space in order to have her washer and dryer right where she needs it. No more stairs multiple times a week to load the washer, transfer the clothes to the dryer, and finally to bring them all back upstairs to put the clothes away.

And to help her with the lost closet space, we raised the current clothes rod and added another below it.

Caution - Electrical Hazard!

Many of our clients have the old 2-wire outlets and we are happy to upgrade them with receptacles that their chords and appliances can actually plug into, Please remember that that third prong is a ground wire which protects you from getting electrocuted and potentially dying. Adding the receptacle isn't enough - a ground wire needs to be ran back to the electrical panel as well.

Here's a commercial client that had an employee drive a forklift into a wall! When I went to investigate, I assumed that only the forks went through the wall. However, it appears they tried to create a new opening into their shop.

I owe my skill to my father and grandfather. Working alongside them as a child, I learned very quickly to get out of their way when they were doing doors. lol! 🤣 I believe that gave me a healthy amount of respect for doors and the intricacies requisite to install them properly.

Here's a very unique situation that I had not ran into before. This client replaced a cooktop in an opening far too large for it. They'll be having stainless steel bent to cover the lumber I used to decrease the opening, a fantastic idea! 👍👌

Here's a great example of why it's so important to keep your gutters and downspouts clean. This poor client was set up for failure by the installers, as the pitch was completely in the wrong direction. But we were able to help him out, even with the temperature in the single digits. Brrrr!

With these downspouts backing up and not draining, all of that ice and snow melts. And it will melt even in this weather with the UV rays of the sun. That water has nowhere to go and will wick up the wood beneath your shingles, just like a sponge! Eventually, it'll cause mold and water damage within your home. Then you have a very expensive renovation to deal with.

We added a bedroom and closet with an egress window as well as redid their laundry room. Most of our work was spent redoing the drawl which hid many electrical fire hazards and very shoddy framing.
