Each year, our employees have the opportunity to donate a portion of their paycheck to charity. This year, their collective effort resulted in an incredible $7,108.13 raised. The votes came in with Mental Health placing 1st and Animal Welfare in 2nd. Thanks to their generosity, we were able to donate $4,975.69 to Sheppard Pratt and $2,132.44 to Operation Paws for Homes, making a significant impact on these organizations' important work.

In celebration of Women's History Month, we're proud to shine a spotlight on one of our powerhouse female leaders who has made incredible strides within our company: Alysia Torres, Managing Partner for our Full-Service Auto Spa car washes in Maryland.

Alysia's journey with WLR began in 2011 at the Gambrills Auto Spa, where she started as a cashier. Her versatility and dedication quickly caught management's attention, leading to her promotion to Supervisor within just six months. This marked the beginning of a series of advancements that showcased Alysia's exceptional leadership skills. Alysia's career continued to rise, with promotions to Assistant Manager in 2012 and Location Manager in 2015. Her commitment to excellence and passion for development didn't go unnoticed, culminating in a significant milestone in 2018 when the VP of WLR, John Bohn, appointed her as Managing Partner, overseeing four locations within her Region.

Alysia emphasizes her goals, "In 2011, my goal was to become the Assistant Manager at the Gambrills Auto Spa. My ongoing goals are to continue developing strong leaders and delivering the best experience at a full-service car wash in our industry." Throughout her journey, Alysia's contributions have been recognized both within and outside the company. In 2018, she was honored with the Manager of the Year award, a testament to her outstanding leadership and dedication. Alysia's impact extends beyond her professional accomplishments; she finds fulfillment in her role's ability to help others. "I love that I have the privilege to help people on so many levels. Our customers, management teams, and employees! It's rewarding to be able to do for others!" she expresses.

Alysia acknowledges the pivotal role of her team, recognizing their hard work, dedication, and passion as essential components of their collective success. "My Region is filled with extremely hard-working people. We couldn't be successful without our dedicated employees!" she emphasizes. Alysia's journey serves as a testament to the power of perseverance, dedication, and the contributions of women in shaping our company's success.

In the spotlight for this Manager Monday is Joey Youngblood, Location Manager at the West York Auto Spa Express. Joey is a dedicated leader who has worked for WLR Automotive Group for almost nine years. Beginning as a Courteous Technician at The L**e Center, he quickly moved into a management role. After a few years, he took the opportunity to move over to Auto Spa Express as an Assistant Manager, where he once again rose quickly up the ranks to Location Manager.

We asked Joey what motivates him each day. He said, "Being able to work with the crew that I have helped build keeps me motivated to work the way I do." He went on to say that knowing he is a part of their lives, helping them grow and develop leadership skills, keeps him going. He feels that working with WLR has been an insightful time in his life. Seeing how the company treats people and their customers has made him strive to be able to give back to others as WLR does.

"Over the years working with WLR, I have achieved many of the goals I set for myself." Setting and achieving goals has been the highlight of Joey's journey with WLR, from career advancement to personal milestones like homeownership. Looking ahead, he aims to claim Manager of the Year, contribute to the company's expansion by developing new managers, and eventually move up to higher leadership roles within the company. "I would like to learn as much as I can and become a bigger impact on this company as they have been a huge impact on me."

Beyond the car wash, Joey loves the gym, cherishes spending time with family and friends at cookouts, and unwinds with video games. His dedication to personal growth and community-building is evident in the workplace and his everyday life.

New Year’s Closing Reminder!

The Auto Spa Express is currently seeking individuals to join our team as Cashier/Courtesy Attendants at our Rt. 26 and Rt. 85 locations! Starting hourly rate is $15.00 an hour plus a generous sales commission. First-year Cashiers have an earning potential of $15-$19 per hour.
