Talking about death is hard, but groups like Frederick Health Hospice, Frederick County Public Libraries and the Curious Iguana Bookstore are coming together to do just that.
Coined “The Bucket List Book Club”, this monthly meeting is open to anyone in the community. The book selections will allow for discussions that explore issues around death AND life.
Don’t have time to read the book, no problem…just show up and enjoy the lively discussions.
As you can tell by the title, this is not your usual book club! Each month on a Sunday afternoon, experts from Frederick Health Hospice will explore issues surrounding death AND life through a variety of books and other media. And no, you don’t have to read the titles to attend. Just come with an open mind and an interest in learning about how we live and how death affects us all. The discussion this month will involve themes related to Being Mortal by Atul Gawande.
At Stauffer Funeral Homes we own and operate our own on-site crematory. If you choose us to care for your family, you have the peace of mind knowing that your loved one never leaves our care.
Millions of Americans will find themselves in a caregiver position at some point. Whether caring for an aging parent, dying spouse, or family friend, caregiving is a tough job that requires support, setting limits, and more.

Many funeral homes rely on an off-site partner to perform the cremation. We perform each cremation in our own on-site, newly renovated state-of-the-art crematory, complete with a private space nearby where families can choose to say their final goodbyes and be together at this sacred time.
