Taste Frederick Food Tours
Taste Frederick offers unique food tasting and cultural walking tours through historic downtown Frederick, MD.
A new way to experience historic downtown Frederick! Our walking food tours combine mouth-watering food tastings from local establishments, with some of the history, culture and architecture that make up the downtown neighborhood.
We know it’s been quiet around here this year. When we stopped running tours in March due to the pandemic we did not expect an entire tour season to go by without getting back up and running. We have missed leading our delicious walks through downtown Frederick and the people that helped make our job as culinary tour guides so fun.
Looking ahead to 2021 … Taste Frederick Food Tours hopes to return next Spring but is currently looking for new ownership to grow and create the next version of these experiences. If you or someone you know is looking for a new opportunity with a ton of growth potential, we would love to talk to them. Any parties interested in becoming the new owner of Taste Frederick Food Tours can email Sarah at [email protected] for more information.
Another gorgeous mural to brighten downtown Frederick! We can't wait to go check it out in person.
We are firm believers in the power of food and in that regard we wanted to share a few resources we have come across in recent days that are highlighting Black and Minority-owned businesses, particularly restaurants in the area.
Frederick Minority Owned Businesses Group
A community compiled list of Black-owned restaurants in Maryland, thank you to R. House for sharing it - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1J52_Iol3QsgKxtVNOH5Cmc3WmuRIO5DU9QFpIdFOL18/edit?fbclid=IwAR1ytsm74ELHGS2GPIYlMsvfMrisrq3Vo0WApSst42aJ50bkfhqVC8_xYhE =0
This list of Black-owned restaurants in the DMV from Feed the Malik - https://www.feedthemalik.com/post/dc-black-owned-open-covid-19
To be very frank, our food tours have not done a good job at including more minority-owned businesses on our experiences. For that we are sorry. Creating more space for diversity does not take anything away from other businesses and we are ready to listen, learn and shift to do better.
If you have any other resources we should add to this list or check out, please consider dropping them here. We can't provide tours right now but we're happy to help promote good food and the people making it.
DC's Black-Owned Restaurants Open During COVID-19 Some amazing Black-owned DMV restaurants remain available to serve us all the goodness we could want or need during COVID-19. Updated list and how to contact them here!
We were craving ALL THE THINGS this morning & grateful some of our fave breakfast spots at Church & East Street could help us satisfy our hunger in one stop. Bagel sandwich & coffee from . Doughnuts from 😍
Yet another amazing way to help Frederick restaurants & breweries right now. These are some amazing fundraising projects from Octavo Designs & The UnCapped Podcast. We're really feeling the Soul Taco T-shirt and Fill'er Up for Frederick glass! https://www.8vodesigns.com/cheers-for-charity/?fbclid=IwAR2wj8ihzcEL7Qe-Vw86TjUb3oY_2bgtLCRPoYceSiC63MrWZCyk0juhm8s
Alright, so if we have to find a silver lining in all of this - being able to drink margaritas at home is definitely one of them.
Where are you ordering takeout/delivery from in this weekend?
This weekend would have been the official start of our 8th season of food tours in . (Throwing it back with this photo from 2013 maybe?)
We're sad we won't be leading delicious walkabouts downtown for the forseable future, but we know the foods we feature will taste even better and the stories we share will seem even richer when we can gather again.
Our Chief Eating Officer Sarah recently sent a personal note out to our community via email, but we thought we'd share it here as well.

An update from the Taste Frederick Team. In light of the developments regarding the COVID-19 situation our 2020 food tour season will be pushed back until it is deemed safe for our restaurant tasting partners to resume normal operations.
We love Frederick and are so proud to get to share it with our guests. We are heartbroken at this turn of events. We buy all of the food for our tours from our restaurant and shop partners. That means for every guest who comes on one of our tours, a portion of the ticket price is flowing back to lots of locally-owned Frederick businesses.
As a small business, we too are feeling very worried about the near future. We are seeking out all information about how to best help our friends in the restaurant/hospitality/service industry right now and will be sure to share anything we come across.
We are grateful to those customers who have been flexible with their travel plans and those that have offered support during this time with gift certificate and future ticket purchases.
We hope you and and your loved ones are healthy and that you are able to find some calm among this chaos.
All the best,
The Taste Frederick Team
