We are delighted to welcome Tara Julian, the Human Resources Manager at Phoenix Mecano North America, to the United Way of Frederick County Board of Directors! Tara has been a dedicated volunteer and supporter of our initiatives, including organizing 30 volunteers for Day of Action and coordinating donations for Stuff the Bus.
Tara's passion for giving back is evident through her 20 years of involvement with non-profits, from supporting animal rescues to working with behavioral health agencies. Her commitment to improving lives and fostering community support makes her a perfect fit for our board.

We are thrilled to announce that Jan Gardner, former Frederick County Executive, has joined the United Way of Frederick County Board of Directors! Jan has dedicated much of her life to public service in Frederick County, striving to create a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Her experience and passion for supporting ALICE households and improving lives align perfectly with our mission.
Jan's deep roots in Frederick County include helping to fund the first ALICE report and collaborating with various organizations to provide vital community services during the pandemic. She has served on numerous boards and advisory councils, including the Maryland Association of Counties, the Family Connects Frederick County Leadership Advisory Board, and many more.
We are excited to have Jan’s leadership and dedication as we continue our work to make a lasting impact in Frederick County. Welcome, Jan!

Last week on pick-up day, 65 dedicated volunteers came together to stuff buses with over 300 bins full of school supplies, all generously donated by the community and picked up from 115+ unique Frederick County businesses. The energy and enthusiasm on that day were nothing short of inspiring, with everyone working tirelessly to ensure that students in our community have the tools they need to succeed.
Because of your incredible support, we’re thrilled to share that we’ve been able to provide over 3,000 backpacks stuffed with school supplies to FCPS to distribute to their students!
To our partners who rallied their teams, our volunteers who gave their time and energy, and our donors who contributed with such generosity—thank you for making a tangible difference in the lives of so many young people. One FREE Chromebook may go to each household/address in Frederick County, if the resident is 18 years old or older. To qualify, you must also participate in one of the following programs:
