Last Saturday, we proudly hosted the annual Fredericksburg Food Bank fundraiser dinner. The event was a tremendous success. $12,450 was raised. We start with Scallops Crudo and a pour of 2021 Seghesio Vermentino, followed by Puree of Butternut Squash with Tortellini with a glass of 2021 Seghesio Chardonnay. Next, a delicately Seared Tuna with a 2021 Archery Summit Pinot Noir. We then move on to a Red Wine Braised Tenderloin of Beef, with a glass of 2020 Seghesio Zinfandel. We start off with Scallop Provencal and a pour of 2022 Perrin Cotes du Rhone Blanc. This is followed by Steamed Pei Mussels with a 2019 Château Rouanne Vinsobres. Next, a delicately Seared Tuna with a 2020 Montirius Vacqueyras. We then move to a Stuffed Beef Tenderloin, with a glass of 2020 Combier Crozes Hermitage. Finally, Manchego and Vlaskaas complemented with a 2021 St. Cosme St. Joseph.

Recently, Chef Jim and the Cork & Table team went on a field trip to Barboursville Vineyards. Resident winemaker, Luca Paschina, showed everyone around on a private tour, and treated us all to lunch and a wine tasting, where he “spilled” the details on the hows and whys of his very personal winemaking process. While there, we sampled the 2021 Cabernet Franc, the 2007 Octagon and several other equally delicious vintages.

Cork & Table was honored to host two separate seatings of a Teacher Lunch, in recognition of some of our local educators, last week. In total, we served 30 teachers from Chancellor High School. This will be a monthly event that we are thrilled to be a part of.
Join us at 6:30pm this Wednesday, October 18th, for a scrumptious Wine Dinner with Glenn Jacquard of Cline Family Cellars . We will start with Salmon and Goat Cheese Phyllo Triangles, served with a 2022 Sauvignon Blanc. Next is a delicious Roast Parsnip Soup with Lobster, with a glass of 2021 Pinot Gris. This Wednesday’s wine dinner adventure keeps us on the west coast but moves us a little further north. Cabell Tomlinson, of FreeRun Winery Services, talks us through our wines as we enjoy the treasures of Oregon. We start off with Avocado Toasts with a 2022 Brandborg Pinot Gris. This is followed with Poached Rockfish with a 2021 O**m “Off the Grid” Riesling. Next up is a delicious Seared Salmon with Mussels with a 2021 EZY TGR Pinot Noir. After that we move to a delicate Sauteed Duck Breast with a glass of 2021 Rambeaux Pinot Noir. For a little bit of sweetness at the end, dessert will be a scrumptious Shortcake with Berries and Crème served with a Lundeen Brut.
