Freeport's July 4th Fireworks are back!!!

Time: 9:00pm, following the L.L.Bean Concert
Where: Fireworks will be visible from parts of Downtown Freeport. Viewers will be directed to the Town parking lot at Howard Place behind the Gap. Public viewing PROHIBITED at the discharge site at Pine Tree Academy Campus.

Chief Darrel G. Fournier has worked in the Fire service over 42 years, most of this time in his home town of Freeport. He is retiring on May 6th and planning to spend more time with family, especially his grand children. Please feel free to post your stories and well wishes or stop by today's retirement reception at the Public Safety Building from 3-6 pm.... Presentations begin at 5pm. Freeport Fire Rescue is proud to have had him as Chief and wishes Darrel the best as he takes on his next life adventure!!

Fire Rescue Academy is wrapping up the week with Everything SCBA and Extrication Training !! Family cookout to finish things up ... Cannot thank all our instructors enough for working with these kids: Chief Mike Robitaille and DC Rich Kindelan both of Yarmouth Fire Rescue, Chief Howard Rice of Falmouth Fire Rescue, Captain Joe Carroll of Scarborough Fire Rescue, and Lt Jonas St John, Captain Jason Cass, and FF EMTI Jason Miller from Freeport Fire Rescue as well as many of our duty and call members who helped with truck checks and equipment setup... And Acting Chief Conley for helping to put it all together!! It's been fun and for a first year it went well ... Looking forward to improving for next year !

Junior Fire Academy is halfway through .... Learning a lot ... ICS, all about Hose loads and advancement, splinting and packaging patients and today's Wildland fires had them testing out the fire tents !! Many thanks to the crews and instructors for working with the kids !!

Six of our members completed their Firefighter I&II certification this past weekend... They have been working hard since January!! Four of them are officers within the Department who chose to up their training and set the bar high for those following... Deputy Chief Eric Sylvain, Capt Jason Cass, Lt Corey Sloat and Lt Jonas St John. Along with Paramedic Nicole Bouyea and now firefighter Tom Parenteau !! Congratulations on all your hard work and some of you completing this with 20 years of service already into the Department !

Last night was our Junior Explorers annual awards banquet !!! Two of our seniors will be leaving the group and joining our call department : Seth Pierce and Nick Thibeault !!! Glad to have these well trained firefighters join the call force !! Our Junior Explorer of the Year is Luke Chapman with over 107 hours of call response, nearly perfect attendance at trainings for both the juniors and department, and participates in marching and community service activities! Many members received their Cards for CPR re-certification this year ! Overall ... It was wonderful to see so many parents and family members support this wonderful group of young adults !! Congratulations to everyone !!
