Have larger clocks or complicated clocks and need assistance?

Remember, generally speaking you always want to move hands clockwise, not counter clockwise (backward) which will often cause issues with the chiming and strike. Thus, you will want to advance the hands 11 hours to get to the correct time ensuring you are stopping on the hour and half hour as necessary for chimes or strike. Another option, is to simply stop the clock (stop the pendulum) and restart it on Monday at the correct time to avoid resetting the hands.

If you have a battery powered clock, this is the ideal time to replace batteries in your clock to ensure longevity of the movement. We advise against using Duracell batteries, they are not as effective in clocks.

We will be delivering repaired clocks from our prior visit, and picking up a new load of clocks needing repair work.

Some recent work from last week that is now off the bench and ready for customer pick-up. Demonstrates a nice cross-section of typical work that finds its way to the shop...many make look familiar to you as perhaps you have one in your home, or recall one from your childhood.

Several are classic examples of the traditional and ever favorite American 8-day clock: the tambour, black mantle and kitchen clock that we see on a regular basis. These styles are widely owned and recognizable to many. Two beautiful and unique crystal regulators and a ships bell/barometer desk set round out the lot from work that was completed last week.

It is often this time of year people start to think about the upcoming holidays. We all have those family members that need nothing and have essentially everything. It can be difficult to determine what to give that is meaningful or worthwhile.

Our suggestion...give the gift of time. Restore that old cuckoo clock that their grandmother gave them. Repair that grandfather clock that has been sitting on idle for years in the corner. Refurbish the pocket watch that has been passed down for generations. These are both meaningful gifts but also functional gifts that serve a purpose.

Every year we have numerous people bring in clocks that they want repaired for a family member as a surprise for the holidays. Unfortunately, we also have those that bring them in a week before and find we cannot get it accomplished in that time. If you wish to have us repair your family heirloom for the holidays our cut-off to guarantee holiday delivery is NOVEMBER 1st.

This is ideal for large clocks such as grandfather clocks which customers cannot transport on their own, or over-sized wall clocks that are cumbersome. However, we can and will stop for any timepiece or clock as we know for some customers it is simply the convenience.

In addition, we will evaluate your clock while in your home and provide on-the-spot estimates so you can determine how you wish to proceed. If repairing, we will transport the clock(s) back to our shop in Fremont and return them once completed (generally 7-14 day turnaround).
