Mannat Kaur Testimonial - Patiala School for the Deaf & Blind
You don't need another reminder to donate to a nonprofit organization today. The projects we fuel all year-round speak for themselves. When the students' very own families can't support their unique learning journeys, your helping hands fill a void with love and care.
On this #GivingTuesday listen to Stanford student Manat Kaur share her volunteer experience at Patiala School for the Deaf & Patiala School for the Blind
"Many of these students come from low-income families and would otherwise have had no opportunities"
Sahaita supports 15-20 students' education & stay annually at this institution. In an ableist society, programs like these provide hope for these youth. Each individual has a story to tell and their common experience is an environment and curriculum supported by you. Give the gift of hope today π§‘

Important update π¨: @sahaita is supporting the local ground team to get essentials such as candles, mosquito nets, feminine hygiene products, food and water to affected flood areas in Punjab. Remember: -Wood is wet, and people canβt make a fire to cook -power has been down they have no electricity -no clean water -Water is weakening house structures. Walls and roofs are starting to crumble -with no ample warning or notice, most people could not grab essentials, food, pots and pans, extra clothing, medicine etc, before seeking higher ground. As the team distributed food to an area, a desperate father of 4 entered the waters to receive langer and drowned. By the time he was found and pulled, he had already died. Within the few hours that the team was there, his body had started to swell up and ruin, and there was no wood to complete the final rites. It is a desperate situation for people. We thank Harmeet Neelon for taking this emergency relief sewa to help in these dire times. We are extremely grateful to Jagjit Singh Khalsa ji for quickly mobilizing and running the flood operations sewa with other great volunteers. Thank you for your support and trust in Sahaita. If you would also like to help, please contact 647-273-4243 or dm us. #punjab #floods #punjabfloods #emergencyrelief
π EPISODE 2 π This #AutismAwarenessMonth, we invited Behavioral Analyst Jagmeet Kaur of Behavior Pivot Consulting to enlighten us about #Neurodiversity. This was coined by Australian sociologist Judy Singer to describe the natural difference in the way our brains work. It includes individuals whose cognitive functions vary from what is considered "neurotypical", i.e. Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Tourette's Syndrome, etc. Whether in the classroom, workplace, or a multicultural setting, everyone falls on a spectrum of neurodiversity and it's important to use resources to support unique needs. Giving this episode a listen could be the first step in providing that support. #SahaitaMindMatters is now available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts
π WE ARE LIVE π This #WomensHistoryMonth , the women from our Board, youth Board, and Mind Matters team collaborated to create and launch our very own PODCAST ππ½ #SahaitaMindMatters is now available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Our pilot episode is about Postpartum Depression, something that countless women deal with in silence. No more. Give it a listen and let us know what other topics you'd like to hear about! Link in bio and, of course, please share, share, share!
ππ½ WE DID IT ππ½ You helped us crush our goal of 50+ boxes of baby essentials to families in need! Before COVID, we accepted heaps of your gently-used baby clothes, but during the peak of the pandemic, organizations were only accepting new items so we couldnt rely on your helping hands! In 2023 we were able to collect again and are so thankful to the moms who parted with their child's first outfits for the love of another family. Thank you Loved Twice for sharing your network of agencies for us to deliver to π«±πΌβπ«²π½ We are grateful to our Board member who hand-knit several beanies. We appreciate our younger sevadars for choosing this opportunity to gain volunteer hours for school. We will remember the store clerk who thanked us for pursuing this project since his own mom relied on women's shelters for his baby clothes 20+ years ago. We're thinking of the families who finally got into a shelter after several months of waiting, the families who have come from as far as Colombia for a new start, the women who beat addiction and are creating a new life for their little ones, and the woman who just had her ultrasound and asked us for a box from the parking lot. This year's contributions are making their way to: π¦ Catholic Charities of Santa Clara π¦ Santa Clara County Maternal & Fetal Health π¦ Parisi House on the Hill π¦ Family Crossroads and Redwood Family House π¦ Bay Area Community Health And it wouldn't have been possible without each and every one of you. To more impact in 2023!
