We are devastated by the recent homicide that occurred in Fremont on July 20. We are grieving and holding space for all impacted by this fatal domestic violence tragedy. As authorities continue to investigate this shooting, we sit in grim awareness that every month, an average of 70 women are shot and killed by an intimate partner*. Women in the United States are 28 times more likely to die by firearm homicide than women in peer nations - and intimate partner violence drives these numbers*. We call for justice and reaffirm our commitment to creating a violence free world - free of gun violence AND domestic violence.

Wow! What a (PRIDE) month!
Narika observed a whirlwind of learning, celebration and growth this Pride month. Our good friend, Liat, joined us to discuss serving the LGBTQ+ community at our final DVAT session. Yay and congratulations once again!

We had the pleasure of attending and tabling at the first ever Fremont Pride Fair on June 15th! The City of Fremont, CA Government’s Human Relations Commission and Fremont Main Library, Alameda County Library put together a truly uplifting event and we cannot wait to celebrate with them again next year!

Finally, Narika co-hosted an online learning event with South Asian SOAR PFLAG SRV and Rewire Community to discuss gender, allyship and South Asian intersectionalities in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Thank you to everyone who attended, asked thoughtful questions, and shared powerful stories with us.

Fi****ms contribute significantly to the crisis of domestic violence in the United States. Used to coerce, control, and threaten survivors, fi****ms are used in over half of all intimate partner homicides in the U.S. In fact, women are five times more likely to be murdered by their abuser when that abuser has access to a gun.

Join Narika at the Alameda County Family Justice Center National Gun Violence Awareness Day Resource Fair and learn how to apply for a Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO).

Dear Narika Community,

It's been 32 years since our founders, a group of inspiring immigrant women, founded Narika to address domestic violence and abuse in the Bay Area, especially in South Asian and immigrant communities.

Since then, Team Narika has supported thousands of immigrant and other survivors of domestic violence as they rebuild their lives, find new homes, jobs, healing, purpose and happiness for themselves and their children. We are honored to have achieved this with your support.

To celebrate and 32 years of service to the community and survivors, we're launching our Annual Birthday Fundraiser! Please help us reach $5000 by June 13th.

Thank you for being an ally. As organizations across the nation face the possibility of critical federal funding being cut, your support is more important than ever for us to continue our work
