To learn how insurance works, let’s start with a few definitions according to Medicare.
☑️ Payer: Your health insurance coverage – for example, Medicare or an employer plan
☑️ Primary payer: The health insurance that pays first, up to its limits
☑️ Secondary payer: The secondary health insurance pays then pays what the primary payer doesn’t cover, up to the secondary payer’s limits. The secondary payer might not cover all costs that the primary payer didn’t cover.
If you have Medicare and other health insurance (like a group health plan, retiree coverage, or Medicaid), each type of coverage is called a "payer." When there's more than one payer, "coordination of benefits" rules decide who pays first. The "primary payer" pays what it owes on your bills first, and then sends the rest to the "secondary payer" (supplemental payer) to pay. In some rare cases, there may also be a third payer.
Let's break down the myths and misconceptions around insurance and discover how it can be your greatest asset.
Many people ask about how to file a Medicare claim. If you have Original Medicare, you usually don't have to worry about submitting a claim because doctors are required to file claims for covered services and supplies. However, if you are unsure whether you need to submit a claim, you can check your Medicare account or receive a Medicare Summary Notice (MSN) every three months via mail. If you notice a claim that has yet to be submitted, you should contact your doctor and ask them to submit it before the 12-month time limit. Suppose the time limit is approaching, and your doctor still needs to submit the claim. In that case, you can fill out a Patient Request for Medicare Payment form (CMS-1490S) and submit it along with the itemized bill, a detailed explanation of why the claim is being submitted, and any supporting documents. If you need any help or have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Medicare Advantage, also known as Medicare Part C, is a type of health insurance plan offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. These plans combine the benefits of Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance) into one comprehensive plan. Many Medicare Advantage plans also include prescription drug coverage, known as Medicare Part D.
Medicare Advantage plans work as an alternative to Original Medicare (Medicare Part A and Part B). They are designed to provide you with all the benefits of Original Medicare while often offering additional services and coverage, such as vision, dental, and wellness programs. These plans may have a network of healthcare providers that you must use to receive full coverage, but some plans also offer out-of-network coverage.
Medicare Advantage plans can be an attractive option for individuals looking for more comprehensive coverage or additional services beyond what Original Medicare provides. However, it's essential to carefully review the specific details, costs, and coverage options of different Medicare Advantage plans to determine which one best suits your healthcare needs and preferences.

The answer is Yes! You can join a Medicare Advantage plan even if you have pre-existing conditions. Insurance companies that offer these plans cannot turn you down or charge you more based on your health status. Just keep in mind that you can only sign up during the Initial Enrollment Period or the yearly Open Enrollment.
Insurance acts as a shield, safeguarding what you cherish—be it your family's well-being, your dreams, or your aspirations. Let's shield what matters most together.
Here's a quick list of some plan changes you can make during the annual enrollment period:

⚫ Change from a Medicare Advantage plan or Medicare supplement back to original Medicare, parts A and B only.
⚫ Change from one Medicare Advantage plan to another. enroll in a part-D prescription drug plan.
⚫ Change from one Medicare prescription drug plan to another. any changes you make during the AEP will go into effect on Jan. 1 of the next year.
If you're wondering when or how you can qualify for Medicare, here are some ways that might help:
1. Age: Most folks can start qualifying when they turn 65 and have a special enrollment period.
2. Disability: If you've been on Social Security Disability Insurance for 24 months or more, you may be eligible.
3. End-Stage Renal Disease: If you have permanent kidney failure, you can qualify for Medicare regardless of age.
4. Work History: If you've paid Medicare taxes for at least 10 years, you may be exempt from some premiums.
5. Citizenship and Residency: If you've been a U.S. citizen or legal resident for at least 5 years, you're eligible. It's good to know that Medicare has different parts, like Part A (hospital), Part B (doctors), Part C (optional Advantage), and Part D (prescriptions).
