Decorative brick columns for a back patio! With brick, nothing is standard. Nothing says, "this column has to be built this way for it to work". We try to think outside of the box when designing. Normal, ordinary columns would have given just that effect, normal and ordinary. Large, bulky columns would have closed off this already narrow patio and probably cheapened the feel of the project. We built this large, stone "resort style" outdoor fireplace with wrap around bench seating. This mammoth is 10 feet wide in the body and 12 feet tall! We installed coach lights on either side of the fire box and a short, raised hearth in the front to add dimension and break up the width of the body. More times than not I hear, "I love what you guys build but I do not have the room for it". You have more room than you might think. We built this island at the end of the patio cover, encapsulating the patio posts. We raised the rear wall to block the West facing sun and turned his space into an outdoor living area rather than a basic patio. We teamed up with Richard Lacy with R. Lacy Interlocking Pavers to complete this awesome fence and retaining wall. Richard had this block “Pea Natural” specially ordered for this project, not only is the block beautiful but he decided to finish it off with a chiseled edge cap from Eldorado stone. I can tell you, this wall was designed and built to last more than a lifetime. At this point the landscaping will be completed so hopefully final pictures down the line! Stone retaining walls, outdoor fireplace, outdoor kitchen, columns, spa and stone screen walls. When we left this project, it was still dirt and some concrete. We went back to do a couple of touchups after the landscaping was completed and we were able to get "near" finished pictures, pool still not completed. When designing a stone veneer for a house we try to operate on the idea of "less is more". When I go out and look at a stone veneer, I listen to what the homeowner is trying to accomplish with the update. Do they want a bold appearance? If so, we would have also installed a full face on the bay window and the large garage gable. They wanted a grander curb appeal, so we designed the home with the full entry arch and then a low wall wainscot veneer across the rest of the house.
