June is Pride month. This is a time when we can come together to honor and support the Two-spirit(2S)/LGBTQ+ community while recognizing the diversity and strength within our own Native American community.
To further affirm and uplift our 2S/LGBTQ+ Native American community, we would like to share some helpful resources that can offer guidance and education:
National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE): The NCTE advocates for policy change to advance transgender equality and provides resources on various issues faced by transgender individuals. Visit their website at www.transequality.org for more information.
Two-Spirit Society of Southern California: This organization is dedicated to the empowerment, advocacy, and support of Two-Spirit people in California. Learn more about their work and upcoming events at www.twospiritsoc.org.
The Trevor Project: A leading organization providing crisis intervention and su***de prevention services for LGBTQ+ youth. Their website, www.thetrevorproject.org, offers numerous resources and helplines for those in need.
Native American LGBTQ+ Support Hotline: A helpline specifically created for Native American LGBTQ+ individuals, providing culturally sensitive support and resources. Call 1-877-565-8860 for assistance.
Wishing a very happy 70th birthday to the Cornel West. 🙏🏾

No more Native American mascots, says New York State School districts that still have them must change by the end of the school year or face stiff penalties.

On this Trans Day of Visibility, we remind folks that allyship is not an identity– it's a practice. For ALL of us to live in a world we deserve and dream of, we must commit to taking action daily. Especially in our current political climate, where over 300 ANTI-LGBTQ+ Bills passed in 2022 and 2023 is set to break last year's record. This year alone, 150 bills were introduced targeting Trans people specifically, all over the so-called united states. Trans people are being attacked, from gender-affirming healthcare bans to being censored in our media. Our Trans relatives' lives are actively being threatened, and it's up to us to make a difference in our communities. We have the power and responsibility to care for one another, especially when this nation’s political systems fail to protect our most vulnerable.
Q***r people have been innovators of things we all know and love, from music to clothing and everything in between. There is no future without our Trans relatives, and their battles should not only fall on the shoulders of the LGBTQ+ community, but rather, call on all peoples to take action. No one is free until we’re all free, and in a system designed to keep us apart, it needs to be our priority to stand with one another against all forms of oppression born of capitalistic white supremacist ideologies and systems within the so-called united states.
We all have q***r folks in our lives and if you think you don't, it’s essential to determine whether you’re creating safe spaces for them to thrive in with you as a relative. We are everywhere and in everything. Historically, q***r people have been healers in many Indigenous communities across NDN Country and the world, and continue to carry those roles in the present.. Transphobia is a destructive and violent colonial construct that we must dismantle and eradicate the moment it arises in any space. We also demand that International Human Rights Organizations pay closer attention to our Trans Indigenous relatives as they are often ignored and not given the care they deserve.
A world without Trans people and the medicine they bring has and never will exist.
We ask that you donate to these Trans-led Organizations listed below that are committed to their work all over NDN Country to help our Trans and LGBTQ+ relatives. To support Trans rights is to defend Human rights. If you are unable to donate, share and commit to taking action with and for our Trans relatives, as it's the only way forward.

Today is International Women's Day which gives us a chance to collectively remember and honor our Women & Femmes who made a better world possible for ALL people and Mother Earth!
Our communities would not exist without our Women and Femmes, and while it's important to honor and respect these fierce and loving warriors of the past who are protecting, uplifting and guiding us daily, we must acknowledge and commemorate the present-day changemakers who continue to serve as both the medicine and backbones of our communities!
