One of the driving forces that make the Veterans Home of California, Fresno, such an amazing facility, is due in large part to our Director of Nursing, Martina Cadsap. After a long career of caring for others and ten years here at the Fresno Home, Martina is retiring. We are so grateful for her passion and commitment to ensuring our veterans receive the best of care. Thanks to her tenacity and exceptional leadership, the Veterans Home of California, Fresno, is ranked in the top three percent of nursing homes in the nation.
We will miss her dearly and wish all the best in the next chapter of her life.

On this Korean War Memorial Day, we remember the more than 33,700 American military personnel who died fighting in Korea. Some 20,300 others died while serving during the Korean War Era.

The Korean War produced 146 Medal of Honor recipients. The names of 13 of them grace our Medal of Honor Hall at CalVet headquarters in downtown Sacramento. Six of those 13 died in battle, their medals presented posthumously to family members.

For most of the members of the Friends of Kearny Bowls, racing is a new found hobby inspired by the racers who circled Kearny Bowls race track back in the 1960's. Events like this car show help to preserve its history. Many of the residents who now live at the Veterans Home of California, Fresno remember going to the race track across from Chandler Field airport. It was a wonderful time to visit and remember those glory days!
A special thank you to the Friends of Kearny Bowls for their generous donation of $1100 that will go to help enhance the lives of the veterans we serve.
