I am so happy to share that we had our first Fresno City College Municipal Code Student Advocacy Project hearing! Rickey Salinas did an amazing job! We have four more FCC Law Pathways students advocating later this month!
I’m proud to share this article Laura Ward and I wrote for the Bar Bulletin about the Fresno City College student advocacy project!
Have you read of the HUD proposal regarding families of mixed immigration status who live in public housing? Preston Prince calls attention to a range of possible harmful effects that one could use to fight the advance of this proposed rule. One of the most important things he mentions is the idea of the proposal itself filling families with fear. Fear that maybe those around you are okay with the sorting out of who within a home belongs and who should be identified for removal. The period for public comments is open through July 9. (Address linked in comment section.)
Here’s how many Fresno kids would be displaced under HUD’s undocumented proposal About 1,300 children in Fresno, California could be displaced under a HUD proposal targeting undocumented individuals living in public housing, and the Fresno Housing Authority could lose around $600,000.
We are very proud to share that the Fresno City Council passed the resolution in support of the Fresno City College Law Pathways student advocacy clinic 6-0! Thanks to everyone who was there!
Congratulations to Allie Mercado on her acceptance to Fresno State! Allie is one of the most determined students I have ever met. She has overcome tremendous obstacles on her journey to becoming a lawyer and won’t let anything stand in her way. Allie, we wish you the best as a Bulldog and we are excited to see all the great things you will accomplish!
Congratulations to pre-law student Nathaly on her acceptance to UC Berkeley and UC Davis! Nathaly is an immigrant from Venezuela who took English classes upon moving to the US a few years ago and is now preparing to change the world as a Cal Bear! So thrilled for you, Nathaly!
A huge congratulations to Alex Orozco, an activist and FCC Law Pathways student with a 4.0 GPA who was just accepted as a transfer student at U.C. Berkeley! I am so proud of you and can’t wait to see all the amazing things you will continue you do as a Cal Bear!
