#SouthMerced is a food desert and residents’ need for a grocery store should be top priority for the City of Merced. While City of Merced - Home has met with potential developers, the City must also invest in the community and its infrastructure in order to make a grocery store possible and promote access to healthy foods. Access to healthy food is not just a convenience, it’s a health issue. The City must work transparently and collaborate with the community to make this happen and find ways to incentivize developers to get South Merced the resources, like fresh food, they deserve.

Residents have been clear they need more resources like a grocery store. #SouthMerced deserves the investments and attention they've been asking for! It's time for the City of Merced - Home to have real investment in South Merced and real engagement with the people who live there.

Almond harvesting is kicking up clouds of toxic, pesticide-laden dust today in the community of La Viña. As County of Madera works on its Environmental Justice and Safety Elements, La Viña residents demand buffer zones between industrial agricultural zones and residential areas. A lack of buffer zones exposes La Viña residents to pesticide drift, dust from harvesting, and shakes their homes while harvesting. The County must distance polluting land uses from residential areas and provide indoor air purification systems in disadvantaged communities.

#Mecca community residents shared their fight to breathe clean air with NoticiasYa Palm Springs. Their message is clear: they demand answers and a healthy future for future generations. It’s time to shut Desert View Power down, permanently. ✊🏽 Join them in the fight for clean air—sign the community-led petition: bit.ly/ECVDVP. #EnvironmentalJustice #CleanAirForMecca #ShutItDown Imperial Irrigation District Joey Acuña for State Assembly South Coast Air Quality Management District - South Coast AQMD U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

What is a day in the life of an LCJA policy advocate like? Tag along with Tulare County policy advocate, Ashley Vega, as she travels with Pixley residents to a California Air Resources Board workshop on the dairy industry. Ninety percent of cows in #California are in the #SanJoaquinValley. Residents living near dairies bring expertise that few people have and must be at the table to craft climate policies that prioritize their water, air, and health. This work can't happen without you! Help us raise $15,000 so that community leaders from Inland California can be where they need to be to hold state leaders accountable. Contribute today at leadershipcounsel.org/donate.
