The Cross Cultural and Gender Center (CCGC) is looking for a student assistant who will work closely with the Asian Pacific Islander coordinator. This position is for incoming or current students who are interested in gaining experience in this field (coordinating programs and events at a social-justice oriented multicultural center). 🌟Visit HireFresnoState to apply! 🌟
The student assistant will assist with:
⭐️Organizing and facilitating educational workshops
⭐️Assisting with event planning and logistics
⭐️Creating promotional materials such as flyers and social media content

As we wrap up the month of January, here is a look back at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration held on January 19th. Thank you to our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Robert Mitchel, and to all of the community members in attendance!

This past Friday we celebrated Kwanzaa at "The Dinner Table" Event recognizing African Heritage and culture, our loved ones, and umoja (unity)! We would like to extend our utmost gratitude to The Black Student Success Initiative Center and The Black Faculty and Staff Association for their collaboration in putting on such a wonderful celebration! Additionally, thank you to President Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval and Dean Stevenson for attending this event.
Traditionally celebrated from December 26th to January 1st, each day is dedicated to celebrating the seven principles of Kwanzaa. We are wishing everyone a safe and prosperous holiday season, and Happy Kwanzaa! 🧡🫶

Lee Herrick, Asian American poet of great renown, was chosen by Governor Gavin Newsom last November 2022 to serve as California's 10th Poet Laureate. Born in Dajeon, South Korea but adopted into an American family in infancy, Herrick is known for his touching, insightful literary pieces on the immigrant experience and complexity of the Asian American identity. He is currently a professor teaching at Fresno City College and the MFA program at the University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe.
