RESPECT the STIM!
🌍Knowing more about stim behaviors allows others to see the “why”. We want to be mindful of the benefits these behaviors have with the ASD community.
➡️Learning about them can provide more tools for relationship building, trust, and acceptance.
☀️Stimulatory behaviors have many benefits, but it’s also important to know how to assist the individual when they may be harmful or signaling another underlying condition, illness, or symptom.
💕There are instances where stimming can be a sign that something is uncomfortable, dysregulating, or even medically involved. That’s why being cautious about ignoring/putting stimming behaviors on extinction should be considered. These behaviors tell us something!
🎉Stimming behaviors can also be a sign of pure JOY. This tells those around them they are expressing themselves fully
📝 Learned something new? Let us know!

We had our all staff meeting last week and it was awesome! Our BCBAs and Case Managers presented on different crucial topics for our technicians.
➡️Each area covered different clinical skills we want our team to become proficient in as they grow in this field.
➡️The topics included: errorless teaching and reminders for our data collection system, clinical judgement for teaching various skills to our clients and navigating conversations with families, & HRE during rapport/trust building.
➡️ We ended our meeting with RBT task list Jeopardy and fun fact questions about different staff members!
➡️What do you cover during your staff meetings?

How can I be compassionate and kind when teaching new expectations?⬇️
The goal is to maintain a reasonable demand while showing understanding that the child may not want to do what’s being asked.

Following through can be necessary to show structure, consistency, trust, and teach life skills.

Balancing follow through with flexibility can be achieved in most situations!

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is,
‘What are you doing for others?’” - Martin Luther King Jr.

Let’s reflect on the words of Martin Luther King Jr. today about the importance of supporting and caring for others. As we grow and learn more, let us contribute to our community with intentional love, justice, and equality.
