Yall. I wanted to make a post so I could look back on this day. This team. I am so grateful for them. They worked so so hard, as you could see, but there are many factors in the background that I would like to all share with you. We do the schedule 2-3 weeks in advance and scheduled this day like any other Tuesday. We were surely understaffed. You may have wondered why we didn’t change the schedule. Well, honestly, we didn’t know what we were facing. In the summer we staff and hire carefully so baristas can get the hours they want while not in school while honoring all family vacations. That is a balance on its own that our awesome leader, Lauren, manages. What we can’t predict is our team members losing power. Their families leaving town to stay safe from the storm. Not being able to contact them for reinforcements- having no cell service or power to get on our scheduling app or message boards. And still, they amazed me. Team members from our NASA location came to help at Friendswood for the first time. I’m looking at you, Shaylee! 🙌 They didn’t know where anything was and then when they had to go to their shift at NASA, would leave to go to more work. (NASA was just as busy today.) I would send out SOS texts and baristas came as soon as they could. ✨Rhett✨They worked doubles (🤘Brennan🤘), were overwhelmed, 🤣🤣🥲🥲🥲🥲had AC-less sleep, were tired, and still worked with a smile. I am so grateful for them. And I am grateful for you all, our people, who were kind and patient. We’re all just doing our best, aren’t we? For the regulars who were able to give the baristas a smile and ask how they were doing in the 30 seconds you had at the register. Then, when they got off their shift they cheered each other on our message board. We’re here to serve you all, of course, but if you have time tomorrow, please join me in saying thank you. We are lucky to have them.
