🥺 A friend just visited the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum whilst on vacation earlier this week. This is my expanded comment on her post, crossposted from Di Henderson, my page:

I knew Jon Hansen (now deceased 5+ years), the bespectacled, red headed Oklahoma City Fire Department’s👨‍🚒 & their 1st -Public Information Officer that everyone remembers from the constant updates. I’d love to have the 📖 he wrote about the , but it’s looong out of print—& is on my eBay wish list.💓

Jon was on Aerospace America’s & debriefed me once at my request, after I had a serious♀️medical issue whilst on a 2+ week tour on the circuit up North—including an 🏥 ER visit. (I 🎤 performed on for & just remembered snippets, nothing more...ever. 😔 This only happens when I’m extremely ill & is disturbing because I have an Eidetic Memory. 🧐 We actually left the event early, bugging out privately at 6 a.m., withOUT completing all our performances because I. was. RRreally. that. ill.—which never happened again.)

Jon helped me enormously & was truly kind; calmly soft spoken, too as we debriefed in our ICAS - International Council of Air Shows Convention booth a few months later. I knew him well enough to realize that my incident was absolutely NO-thing compared to what Jon had experienced for decades. Still, his comforting demeanor & implicit understanding utterly fascinated me...even though I instinctively felt he was the , & frankly only, person with whom I could openly discuss my concerns. 🤗

Jon told me he volunteered at Ground Zero after 9/11, but he didn’t offer details about any —except for Tom Jones’ (AA’s Air Show Director) crash. Jon was 1st on the scene. 😢 They were friends as was I & our Team Pilot, who competed in International Aerobatic Club Contests at the same time as Tom did.

[As an aside, our was working on his INside the when Tom’s Pitts S-2B💥crashed into said hangar at an Regional Contest. Tom jumped out of the —he was 5’ zip, & yelled “Look at my dāmñėd airplane!” as his prop flew off & twirled 🌀end over end toward our Pilot.] 😳 🤦🏻‍♀️ 😆

As Jon & I wrapped up our discussion, I mentioned that the 9/11 debriefings must’ve been quite intense. Jon admitted that he just didn’t bother with after the OKC Bombing....😐

He’d blast 🎶“Danger Zone”🎵into his helmet’s earpiece...from his Sony Walkman. Plus, he’d pump his ✊🏼 fists & even bang on the top of the instrument panel for extra OOOMPH! 😎
