Watch DOGS are so important for our campus, and we appreciate ALL our volunteers! Signing up can be a 30 minute commitment, it can be once this year, or whenever you can help a lending hand! You will not receive emails BEGGING for you to signup for more days! We love seeing our parents on campus, and any time we can connect with our parents and students = a big win for your child's education. Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Rose Bueno

Help us welcome Diagnostician, Ms. Bueno!

She is new to Hackberry, but she has 13 years of teaching experience, and has worked in Special Education since 2003.

She has a Masters in Special Education, and interesting fact: she was born and raised in the Philippines until she was 10 years old.

In 1995, she married her high school sweetheart, and together, they have four children. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family, including soccer and hiking. She also enjoys reading and making shirts and crafts.

Teacher Spotlight: Coach Chris Nash

If you don’t know him already, meet Coach Nash, our Physical Education teacher/coach extraordinaire, who has been at Hackberry for close to 4 years!

Coach Nash has a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, is certified in K-12 Physical Education, and has 13 years of experience.

A few fun facts about Coach Nash: he loves exercise and running, which we all know that he loves to share with students; he enjoys spending time with family, attending concerts and laser engraving, and he is from Anahuac, Texas – home of the Texas Gatorfest!

Thank you, Coach Nash for teaching our littles the importance of health and fitness and safe play.

Si aún no lo conoces, conoce al entrenador Nash, nuestro extraordinario maestro/entrenador de educación física, que ha estado en Hackberry durante casi 4 años.

El entrenador Nash tiene una Licenciatura en Ciencias en Educación Infantil, está certificado en Educación Física K-12 y tiene 13 años de experiencia.

Algunos datos curiosos sobre el entrenador Nash: le encanta hacer ejercicio y correr; Le gusta pasar tiempo con la familia, asistir a conciertos y grabar con láser, y el es de Anahuac, Tejas.

Meet 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Masai. This is her 12th year teaching and her 11th year at Hackberry.

She graduated from Dallas Baptist University with her Bachelor’s Degree in EC-6 and from Lamar University with a Masters in Teacher Leadership.

She is married to her best friend, and they have 2 children, Elias and Emeliana. Outside of school, she loves to travel, eat Mexican food, and bargain shop.

This quote from her says it all, “I think teaching is the greatest profession in the world, and I cannot wait to see all the magic that is going to happen this year!”

Thank you Mrs. Masai for always creating magic for all of us.

Conozca a la maestra de primer grado, la Sra. Masai. Este es su duodécimo año enseñando y su undécimo año en Hackberry.

Se graduó de la Universidad Bautista de Dallas con su licenciatura en EC-6 y de la Universidad Lamar con una Maestría en Liderazgo Docente.

Está casada con su mejor amiga y tienen 2 hijos, Elías y Emeliana. Fuera de la escuela, le encanta viajar, comer comida mexicana y comprar gangas.

🎉 Hackberry PTA’s First-Ever Teacher Grant Program Is a Huge Success! 🎉

We are so excited to share that Hackberry PTA successfully launched our first Teacher Grant Program this year! Each teacher received $100 to spend on classroom supplies, while Specials, RISE, and Life Skills teachers received $200 to support their students in special ways.

The PTA took care of all the ordering and even hand-delivered every single item to the classrooms!

Thanks to your support, teachers received essential items like heavy-duty pencil sharpeners, laminating paper, staplers, classroom snacks, power strips, and even fun tools like vocabulary cartoon books, magnetic letters, and sensory tools to help students learn in creative ways. Many teachers requested rolling desks to better support hands-on learning with their classrooms.

This is just the beginning, and we hope to continue this program in the years to come. Thank you for helping make it possible! ❤️📚

Teacher Spotlight: Ms. Elisa Mcinnes

Meet our Nurse Extraordinaire, Ms. Mcinnes! Many of you may already know her because of how well she takes care of our babies. This is her fourth year at Hackberry.

She has an Associates degree in nursing, and we all know that she’s willing to step in and help wherever needed! She is a great coach and tutor.

She has a son who is in 6th grade, with whom she enjoys doing Lego sets with, fishing or playing sports. She also has 2 four-legged children (pups!). She loves reading good books and is always eager to try new things and loves Mexican and Italian food.

We are so lucky to have you!

¡Conozca a nuestra enfermera extraordinaria, la Sra. Mcinnes! Es posible que muchos de vosotros ya la conozcáis por lo bien que cuida a nuestros bebés. Este es su cuarto año en Hackberry.

Tiene un título asociado en enfermería y todos sabemos que está dispuesta a intervenir y ayudar donde sea necesario. Es una gran entrenadora y tutora.

Tiene un hijo que está en sexto grado, con quien le gusta hacer juegos de Lego, pescar o hacer deportes. También tiene 2 niños de cuatro patas (¡cachorros!). Le encanta leer buenos libros y siempre está dispuesta a probar cosas nuevas y le encanta la comida mexicana e italiana.

Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Vanessa Moya

Meet ESL Specialist Teacher, Mrs. Moya!

Originally from Venezuela, she has 16 years of experience in Little Elm ISD and 12 of them at Hackberry. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s degree in Education Administration from Lamar University in Texas.

Her scope is broad – including conducting LPAC meetings, LEP student paperwork and providing enriching learning activities and experiences. We are especially excited that she’ll be helping with Trunk or Treat!

In her free time, she enjoys dancing, exploring new cuisines and restaurants, watching movies, and traveling with her husband Marcos and their children, Marcos, Mia, and Miranda (especially to the beach!).

We are so lucky to have such a friendly, welcoming face in the halls!

Teacher Spotlight: Ms. Cynthia Selle

Meet 3rd Grade Dual Language teacher for Math/ELAR, Ms. Selle! This is her second year at Hackberry and third year in LEISD.

She is a graduate of the University of North Texas, and most recently, she obtained her Masters degree in Aeronautics from Liberty University. She is currently in flight training to become a commercial pilot.

She has two teenage boys and a wonderful boyfriend. In her spare time, she loves to sing and play the piano and trumpet. She also loves to travel, watch movies and attend concerts.

We are so lucky to have you!

¡Conozca a la maestra de Lenguaje Dual de 3er grado para Matemáticas/ELAR, la Sra. Selle! Este es su segundo año en Hackberry y el tercer año en LEISD.

Se graduó de la Universidad del Norte de Texas y, más recientemente, obtuvo su maestría en Aeronáutica de la Universidad Liberty. Actualmente está en entrenamiento de vuelo para convertirse en piloto comercial.

Tiene dos hijos adolescentes y un novio maravilloso. En su tiempo libre le encanta cantar y tocar el piano y la trompeta. También le encanta viajar, ver películas y asistir a conciertos.

Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Nancy Burzynski

We hope you are as excited to meet Mrs. Nancy Burzynski, Kindergarten dual language teacher as we have been!

Mrs. Burzinski has been teaching for 20 years, with 15 of them being at Hackberry. Her dedication to her students is evidenced by her recognition as a Leader of the Pack! We are looking forward to her help with the Spring Carnival.

She lives with her husband and her three children, Joshua, Hannah, and Natalie. In her free time, she loves to read books and play board games with her kids, cook, and take care of her indoor plants. She also likes to sing to her students.

Meet 2nd grade teacher, Ms. Paul.

Fun fact: this will be her 2nd year at Hackberry and her 2nd year in 2nd grade. She received her Bachelors Degree in Education from Texas Tech.

In her free time, she enjoys going on walks, working out, pickleball, trying new coffee shops and spending time with her family, where she is the youngest of 4.

** Also, a slight change to the competition in a good way! Instead of the ONE class with the most scoops for all the grades, it will be the class in EACH grade with the most scoops gets an ice cream sundae bar!**

The race is ON! 🏆 Red House has taken a small lead over Black and Blue, but it’s still anybody’s game! 💪 We’re so close to the finish line, and Monday is the LAST day to turn in your candy donations! 🎃

The house with the most donated candy will win House Points – so keep those donations coming! 🙌 All candy will be used for our Trunk or Treat event on October 22nd! 🎉
