Winter is coming this weekend. Are you prepared? Here are some tips to ensure to protect your home!

1. Seal Drafts:
✅Check windows and doors for drafts. Use weather stripping and caulking to seal gaps. 🪟
✅Consider using draft stoppers at the bottom of doors to prevent cold air from entering.

2. Protect Pipes:
✅Insulate exposed pipes to prevent freezing. This is crucial to avoid pipe bursts.
✅ Allow faucets to drip slowly during extremely cold temperatures to relieve pressure in the pipes. 🚰

3. Check Roof and Gutters:
✅ Inspect your roof for any damaged or missing shingles and repair as needed.
✅ Clean gutters to prevent ice dams that can damage your roof and walls. 🏡

4.. Winterize Your Lawn Equipment:
✅ Drain fuel from lawn mowers, trimmers, and other gas-powered equipment.
✅Store these items in a dry place to prevent damage.

5. Reverse Ceiling Fans:
✅Set ceiling fans to rotate clockwise to circulate warm air downward.🪭

6. Stock Emergency Supplies:
✅Ensure you have an emergency kit with essentials like blankets, flashlights, batteries, and non-perishable food items.🍩🧁🍭🍎🔦

7. Disconnect and Store Hoses:
✅Disconnect all outside hoses and store them indoors to prevent freezing.

8. Insulate Outside Faucets:
✅Cover all outside faucets with Styrofoam insulation covers to protect them from freezing temperatures.

9. Open Cabinet Doors:
✅Leave both upper and lower cabinet doors open wherever you have plumbing running through an outside wall. This helps warm air circulate and prevents pipes from freezing. You may also want to let faucets drip from both the cold and hot water taps.
