Fantastic update from Stephanie (SCERP 2005 cohort)! Stephanie serves as Manager of the Water Resources and Environmental Planning Group at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. She leads a team of Water Resources specialists (focused on groundwater, drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater), Wildlife Biologists and NEPA specialists. Stephanie and her husband now have two kids! Great!

Talking Trash: Tracking Ocean Litter in the Rocky Intertidal Zone | CSUF News Trina Miller, a Cal State Fullerton undergraduate researcher studying marine biology, is focusing on a study to identify and categorize ocean trash to determine the threats of human-caused debris to marine life in the rocky intertidal zone.

Congratulations Sydnee (SCERP 2018 Cohort)! Sydnee starts a new position as a scientific aid for the Department of Fish & Wildlife this month. She will contribute to conservation efforts preventing and controlling two prolific invasive freshwater species, Quagga (Dreissena rostriformis bugensis) and Zebra (Dreissena polymorpha) mussels.

Congratulations, Amy (SCERP 2005 cohort)! Amy is pursuing a M.A. in Theology at the Talbot School of Theology at Biola University. She reports that it feels wonderful to be back in school! Amy is heavily involved in women’s programs at her church, and she is excited to pursue formal education that will help her serve those around her well. Amy has been homeschooling her daughter for the past two years (focusing on botany this year!). She also works with her husband, Odi, at both Feal Suspension and with his racing program in Formula Drift (ranked 3rd and fighting for the overall championship this season!). Amy reports that there’s a lot going on, and she has been learning to slow down and enjoy this season of life with her family. Great!

Sad news. Kim Nelson (SCERP 2007 cohort) passed away unexpectedly earlier this week. Kim was an integral and important member of the SCERP family. She was an accomplished scholar and terrific mom who remained connected to SCERP throughout the years. We miss her.
