Did You Know? Today is National Huntington's Disease (HD) Awareness Day. HD is an inherited condition in which nerve cells in the brain break down over time. It typically starts in a person's 30s or 40s. Usually, Huntington's disease results in progressive movement, thinking and psychiatric symptoms. No cure exists, but drugs, physical therapy, and talk therapy can help manage some symptoms.

Ensuring the health and safety of our residents and staff continues to be Serenity's top priority as an assisted living and memory care provider. Our strength lies within our ability to deliver medical-based care to our residents in a safe and comfortable environment. With guidance from our board certified physician serving as our Chief Medical Officer and the support of Serenity Care Health Group medical clinics, we were immediately able to put forth the necessary precautions in order to mitigate any potential risk for our residents. Staying vigilant in our precautionary protocols and staff training has also allowed us to continue to deliver quality care and exceptional service to our residents and families during this difficult time. The measures we have implemented- such as taking temporal temperatures, screening questionnaires, and protective equipment are just a few measures that have been crucial to maintaining our residents' health and safety.

In addition to ensuring our residents' wellbeing, we have also made it our priority to maintain our partnership and role with Meals on Wheels of America. Despite the challenges, SCH has continued to provide fresh, home-cooked meals to our senior population. We are thankful for the opportunity to support not only our seniors, but the seniors living at home in our communities.
