Triple Stones Rattery

Hello all. Well we have tested positive for the bacteria causing rat bite fever, therefore we have halted breeding and will be closing the rattery for the foreseeable future. I will be taking a break and allowing more experienced breeders and the labs they are working with time to get this all figured out and then find tested and negative babies to start back up with when I'm ready. All of this along with everything else going on in the world at the moment has really taken a toll on me mentally so a break is severely needed. If you have gotten a baby from me (or even if you've gotten your babies somewhere else as it seems to be more prevalent in the fancy than was previously thought) I strongly suggest researching rat bite fever so you know exactly the risks and symptoms to watch for in yourself or other members of the household and test your rats if possible and/or you have people in the higher risk category in your home. I am adding some info sheets and I'm happy to answer any questions anyone might have. Hope to see all of you when we get back!

RATTERY IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Hello everyone. Due to recent developments in the breeding community, we will be halting all breeding and adoptions. It has come to light that there is now a way to test for the bacteria that causes rat bite fever, so now that people have started testing several prominant ratteries are coming back with positive results. Because of this, I feel the only responsible thing to do is halt everything until test results come back and I am sure my rattery is clean of this bacteria. Until now, this bacteria was just understood as a "risk of owning pet rats and even other rodents". Now, with the help of several expert breeders and Charles River Laboratory, it looks like we might have a good chance to eradicate this potentially dangerous bacteria from the fancy. The only problem is this test is very expensive, which is making it very difficult for small time breeders like myself to test everyone. Because of this there is no way for me to know how long we will be closed. This has all come up suddenly and everything is pretty uncharted territory, so I ask for your support and patience while myself, along with other breeders figure things out in order to provide you with the best and SAFEST pets we possibly can.

She said she is super sweet and curious and she is really hoping someone will give her a wonderful home. My son is in second grade. Part of his virtual schooling was to pick an animal that makes the best pet. He yelled, "A RAT" with zero hesitation, then he was to write 4 reasons the animal would make a good pet. This is what he wrote ❤❤ oh my heart
