We wrapped up the "Ohio Car Audio Showdown" on Sunday with competitors from as far away as FL, NY, WI, PA, WV, TN, VA and of course… OH!

There were many impressive car audio systems. What was impressive was the quality of engineering, craftsmanship and system design. The sound quality in all the entrants was superb despite the challenges! Take a look at some of the installations and you can see the care and attention to detail that transforms it from average to amazing!

On the day of the Eclipse in 2024... this was also the day on April 8, 1994, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced that Pink Floyd’s 1973 album, “The Dark of the Moon” had sold over 12 Million albums and become the fourth biggest-selling album in history.

In 2024, current album sales have eclipsed 45 million copies worldwide.

Just the usual pop fluff! Ha.

It is that dark, cold lyrical cynicism juxtaposed with lush, rich musical performances and production that delivers such an impassioned and inspired album that remains such a beautiful piece. I would put it up there with the greats... Beethoven's Piano Concerto #4, Gershwin's American in Paris, and of course AC/DC Back in Black and other classics that just stay relevant! Duhh!

For me it's the music that still sounds as damn good as did back in the day, 50+ years ago.. (ouch that hurts!) with lyrics that force reexamination of our goals and our selves, and sound production values delivered by Alan Parsons and team. Consummate.

Honestly, I'm in awe of what they created and so appreciative. It's just one of those rare albums that strikes all the facets to make a modern masterpiece that I hope and believe will be around for a long, long time.

Ohio...we coming! Autosound Showcase has teamed up with John Senters of Genesis Audio in Gahanna, OH to bring you a 2 day event!

On April 20th, we will be having a Sound Quality training, IASCA's new music, new rules, and anything sq will be the topics. This is a Pre-registration class only and is open to anyone. Right now, we have 20 spots available. The training will be done by Harry Kimura and Keith Turner. If you are an IASCA judge we strongly recommend you coming out to this event for this training.
