Unfortunately my surgeons have recommended I take another 4-6 weeks off work. Otherwise I risk my patch failing. I will return to work once I receive clearance from my surgeon. I will wait to reschedule clients until closer to my return date, when I have a better idea of how I will be feeling. This will allow me to book myself accordingly. I have some excellent referrals I can make for clients who are unable to wait for my return! Otherwise. I will be in touch and cannot wait to be back behind the chair.

It’s my birthday today. And while I’ve spent the last few weeks really overwhelmed, I am spending today in gratitude. Gratitude that this condition is highly treatable. For my close proximity to the best doctors. For my community of family, friends, clients and colleagues that have lifted me up during this time. Whether that be through encouraging msssages, door dash gift cards, Venmo presents, grocery drop offs or delivering meals & flowers. I really need all that love right now and I am so grateful that God put all of you in my life. Also so thankful for our three sets of parents who have stepped up and been the most supportive grandparents for Tommy when we have been in the hospital and dealing with all of this. He has been so well cared for. And for my amazing husband who has taken such good care of Tommy and I always, but even more so these last few weeks. I am also grateful for the fact that a week from today, I will have surgery to fix this leak. And so thankful that in a few weeks I will be healing, sleeping, pouring into my business, taking my boy on walks and park dates again, but this time with a much bigger sense of gratitude. So grateful for all the temporary in these circumstances that will soon be replaced with normal life.

We had a really special day at home and I finally felt well enough to make my favorite, pasta & homemade red sauce. It was such a good day spent as a fam. 🍝

I appreciate the continued prayers and well wishes. My surgery date is scheduled for October 24. 🧠✨

Some of you may remember my posting about having the worst cold of my life a couple weeks ago. My nose was dripping like a faucet and nothing was clearing it up. It had some unusual characteristics so my doctor sent it to the Mayo Clinic for testing. The results came back positive that I had something called a spontaneous CSF leak. Meaning I have compromised bone on my cranium and am leaking cerebral spinal fluid into my sinuses. My doctor told me he was sending my info to OSU and I needed to take myself to the ER right away. I spent Tuesday and Wednesday last week in the emergency room where they ran a series of tests to determine the location of the leak + necessary treatment. It was determined that my leak is considered urgent and high volume. I am scheduled for neurosurgery & a lumbar puncture on Tuesday morning to patch the leak. I am feeling overwhelmed at the moment but so thankful that healing is on its way.

The wildest part of this story is that I had no other symptoms other than an atypical runny nose & subsequent drainage. I am feeling so grateful that I listened to my body and went to my doctor with my concerns. And also that he listened and took the test.

I have already been off work for 2 weeks and now I need surgery and another 10 or so days to recover. If your appointment has been cancelled, please know that I cannot wait to be healed and back in the salon. I plan on rebooking all cancellations while I am at home recovering and have a better idea of how I’m going to feel when I return to work.

Please keep me in your prayers and send good vibes for my Tuesday surgery & recovery. I’m thankful for my community who has been lifting me up through all of this and I do believe the power of prayer has blessed and expedited my healing journey. 🙏🏼💕
