Join us next Friday, May 3 for Jazz Nite 2024 - we are looking forward to our final jazz performance of the year and celebrating our seniors!

A PHENOMENAL day at the Tri-C Jazz Education Day in Cleveland for our Jazz I and II students today. Adjudicated performances, clinics, sectionals, and a concert from the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra, including an invitation to join the band onstage!

Join us TONIGHT at 7:00 for the annual All-District Jazz Festival, when we will feature 150 jazz band students and guest artists Chris Ott and Dan White!

Good luck to our GLHS band students as they participate this weekend in the OMEA District 15 Large Group Adjudicated Event.

Tonight, the Freshman Band will perform at 6:00 at Westerville Central HS. Tomorrow, Blue and Gold Bands will perform at 1:30 and 3:10 at Thomas Worthington HS.

We also want to wish good luck to the four GLHS choirs who will be performing on Saturday at Capital University!

Next week, we will present two concerts featuring over 300 band students in grades 8-12: Freshman/Blue Bands on Monday and All-District 8th Grade/Gold Bands on Tuesday. We are excited to welcome internationally-known composer and conductor Brian Balmages for both concerts. Each band will perform one of his pieces, including "March of the Centurions," a new commission honoring retired band director Diane Ballard. This piece will be premiered by the All-District 8th Grade Band and members of the Gold Band brass section on Tuesday night.

We are looking forward to Tuesday's "Jazz and Friends" concert, when our high school bands will share the stage with The Big Walnut Big Band!

We are excited to announce that the Golden Lions Marching Band will be traveling to Toronto in November 2024 to march in the 120th Annual Santa Claus Parade! It's going to be an amazing trip!

Freshman, Blue, and Gold Bands invite you to this Sunday's Holiday Band Concert at 3:00 in the GLHS Auditorium. Music will include "Themes from 'The Nutcracker,'" "In the Bleak Midwinter," and an audience sing-a-long. We will also present the world premiere of David Gillingham's "Of Kindred Minds."

A special day in the band room, as we welcomed (virtually) composer David Gillingham to rehearsal as we prepare "Of Kindred Minds." The piece was commissioned by Gahanna Lincoln Instrumental Music Boosters and 2020 Gahanna band alumnus Benjamin Brody and will be premiered on Sunday, December 17.

Our students had a tremendous opportunity this morning to learn from Major Ryan Nowlin, Associate Director of "The President's Own" Marine Band, including sharing his piece "Through the Valley" and participating in a wide-ranging question and answer session.

Three hours until our annual Pops Concert, featuring music from this fall's pregame and halftime shows as well as a special appearance by the band class of 2027. Hope to see you tonight at 7:30 in the front gym!

We have had a great week with our Kickoff Camp for students going into grades 7-9! A lot of great music being made and fun being had with Tropical Tuesday and Wacky Wednesday. Come to West on Thursday at 4:00 to hear our end of camp concert!

We are looking forward to marching in the Red, White, and Boom parade downtown on July 3 and in the Gahanna 4th of July parade. If you are there and hear the band playing "America the Beautiful," "Grand Old Flag," or "The Stars and Stripes Forever" along the parade route, we encourage everyone to clap and sing along! 🇺🇲🎺🥁🎷🎆

THANK YOU to everyone who came out to hear Jazz Nite, last night! What a beautiful evening full of great music from our wonderful students! And a huge THANK YOU for all of the donations for GRIN! We were able to contribute three carts full of food and supplies for our community!
