Vision went home today on National Puppy Day! How perfect. This was the pic I got of her while her new owner fills out paperwork. I think she’s happy 😊

A common question I get asked whenever I post about puppies available is “why do you hold them like that?” What they are referring to is a stack. It is the position I set the puppy in this picture in. It is the position that show dogs are put in while being examined by a judge to compete for championship points, so why would I stack a mixed breed rescue puppy?

Well, there are a few reasons:
1. The biggest reason I stack puppies is to show potential adopters an accurate image of what the dog looks like. It shows their side profile, the length of the legs, shape of the feet, head shape, etc and it can give the potential adopters an idea of what the dog will look like at full growth.
2. Exposure for the dogs. In order to place these dogs in these positions, their feet are hand-placed over and over and over as the dog shifts it’s weight and moves it’s feet. This is great desensitization to standing on a grooming table or other high up surface, having their feet and legs handled, etc.
3. Core strength and balance. In order to comfortably and confidently stand in this position, the dogs have to learn how to shift their weight and balance. This obviously improves their balance overall which helps with movement and avoiding injuries later on. This is also a great way to build a puppy’s confidence and often helps with nervous puppies that like to sploot when they are unsure. This is an undesirable behaviour. We want the dog to stand or sit still and look to the handler for guidance when unsure. While on the table, the puppies engage their core as they are unsure how stable the table is and it is a few feet off the ground. They quickly learn where the edge of the table is and to avoid falling by staying in the center and engaging their core to stay balanced.

I’ve been accused of everything from being a backyard breeder to choking/hitting/yelling at dogs to stack them just to “show them off” when in reality it is a minimally stressful, core strength and balance exercise that can be shown to adopters as full body images. Hope this clears things up!

Wish is looking to make someone laugh forever!

Wish is a high energy, very playful and silly pit bull mix. She is very small for a pit bull mix, weighing a mighty 45lbs. She is 2 years old, spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartgard/nexgard protected.

Her ideal home would be an active home, with either no children or older children, and no small animals (including dogs). She would also make a great farm dog on a property with large animals.

She is a very silly and funny girl. She loves to run around with at least three toys in her mouth while she wiggles her whole body. She will really make her new owner happy, but she is a lot of dog, so potential adopters should keep that in mind. She is incredibly trainable and biddable and enjoys long walks where she can sniff the grass and greet friendly neighbors. She walks nicely on a leash and is very well potty trained.

For the entire month of September, her adoption fee is waived! Fill out an application here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd20rq_9s5Jm56Q9LU2vKsvcdG-8BpRAcyDvCDwv_yh2OLDoA/viewform

Wish is looking for a foster or adopter after 8/20.

Her owners are not in good health and are not healthy enough to take care of her. She is very sweet and incredibly biddable. She is extremely playful, trainable, and active. She cannot be in a home with any other pets, as she has a very strong prey drive and she will need a fenced yard.

She will come with:
• all her shots, including a 3-year rabies
• spay
• food
• her favorite toy
• lots and lots of love

If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out a short application here: https://forms.gle/GLDdjY7a4T5368mY6

If you are interested in fostering her, please send me a private message.

Butterscotch is a very independent cat. She doesn’t mind cuddling and won’t fight a good belly scratch, but she also doesn’t mind laying at the top of the cat tree doing her own thing. She is the least vocal out of the litter. She tolerates dogs, and LOVES to play with cats.

All of them are eating wet and dry food.
