We donut want it to be our last day at the Library today, but, even though it is “crumby” to say goodbye, we got some yummy choices for lunch! Thank you to everyone who came out and jammed with us at the library today! We learned that if you give a moose a muffin, then he’ll want some blackberry jam… so we made blackberry jam! This easy 2 ingredient recipe was so fun, yet so simple- check out the recipe and try it at home :)

You Need:
4 Quart: Blackberries- try it with any berry
3 Cups: Sugar

What to do:
1. Smash Berries in a bowl. Once mixed, add to a cooking pot and add sugar.
2. Boil mixture, stirring occasionally for about 20 minutes.
3. Put jam in a jar/ container and enjoy! You can put jam in the fridge to cool.

Fun Fact:
Jam can be used in many ways, such as a spread for toast or bread, a filling for pastries, or a glaze for desserts. You can also add chia seeds to jam to give it a similar texture to jam while also adding fiber and protein!

THE DISCOVERY KITCHEN AT THE LIBRARY IS TOMORROW!!!! Call the Cooke County Library at 940-668-5530 if you have not registered yet.

Our third annual Discovery Kitchen in partnership with The Cooke County Library will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, June 26 at 12:15pm in the meeting room. Please note that space is limited! There will be 35 spots available, and the food demo is geared towards children 3 years of age and up. If you have not called the library or stopped in to reserve your spot, please do so! Also, parents of older children who do not need assistance may also be asked to wait outside during the demonstration.

In case you forgot, a Discovery Kitchen is an interactive food demonstration and education event where kids will get the opportunity to put a recipe together along with members of the Child Nutrition Team and learn about the foods they are eating! This Discovery Kitchen, however, is inspired by a book from The Cooke County Library. We will read “If you Give a Moose a Muffin” and then do the food demonstration with ingredients in the book.

P.S. Don’t forget, Free meals for kids 18 & under are served at the library on Wednesdays from 11 am-12pm! Grab the free meal then head on into the Discovery Kitchen.
