Tomorrow night, Tuesday, April 12th, Dr. Horner will be delivering his final lecture as our director. The lecture, which take the book of Ecclesiastes as its subject, will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The lecture will be preceded by a reception in honor of Dr. Horner that will start at 6:00 p.m. with hors d'oeuvre and drinks provided. We hope you are able to attend both the reception and the lecture, but feel free to drop in for the reception even if you are not able to stay for the lecture.
It truly is a beautiful (rainy) day at Pascals 🥲
It's been a while since our last update but we have great news! We are currently 75% fundraised for our bar remodel this summer. 🥳
If all goes well, we will be closing the coffee shop for the summer A semester (May and half of June) to refinish the floors and completely remodel our coffee bar.
We are of course still hoping to raise the remaining $25,000 by the end of renovations - so if you are planning to donate please check out the link below & keep an eye out for upcoming fundraising efforts ((:

another Thursday, another throwback post 🥳
Over the past few decades, Pascal’s has been “growing in our knowledge of the coffee world, tweaking our brewing parameters, and experimenting with brewing methods so that we can provide our community with coffees that have been cultivated with the greatest care.”
Our next step towards providing quality coffee for our neighbors is to renovate our coffee bar - a project we are continuing to work towards today.

Registration is live! (Link in Bio)
On December 2, join the Octet Collaborative for a timely conversation:
For all the promise of social media, search, and internet commerce, concerns that these firms are causing more damage than benefit seem to be gathering steam. What wisdom can Christians offer in this situation? What does it look like to use social media and other digital technologies well? What wisdom can the Christian faith provide for those who are building them?
Join the Octet Collaborative for this virtual conversation on this crucial topic with an expert panel of theorists and practitioners:

Sean Hill (Pascal's barista, 2008-2010) shares about his experience with Pascal's and the CSC. Consider donating to our "Raise the Bar" campaign as we seek to care for our building into the future! And just in case you are wondering - Sean married Megan, also a Pascal's barista, circa 2009!

"Arriving at college, we usually have plenty of ideas about how Christians should live our commission, but it can be hard to find examples to follow. Seeing Pascal’s minister to the spiritual, social, intellectual, and physical (caffeine) needs of its neighbors had a profound effect on the way I think about interacting with my own communities. As they say, come for the Cubano, stay for the discussion."
Throwback Thursday!!
We have another throwback shot to share with you all this Thursday. Todays throwback pic features Laurie Goddard, our current manager. This is actually Laurie’s return as manager! She was also manager in 2010, we are so so glad to have her back. (:
Reminder that on Thursdays when you buy coffee at Pascals all proceeds will go towards our “Raise the Bar” campaign to remodel our coffee bar.
If you would like to donate any additional amount, you can check out the link below.(:

Throwback Thursdays!
Pascal’s and the CSC have been around since 2001 which means this building is filled with 20 years of history- and our coffee bar has been a central piece of it all.
Stay tuned every Thursday as our baristas rein-act a throwback Pascal’a picture in honor of our “Raise the Bar” campaign.
Every Thursday your purchase at Pascals will go directly to the bar remodel fund, so come grab a drink and join us as we reminisce on all that this place has meant to us and look forward to all that it will soon become. (:

Help us “Raise the Bar!”
We are officially launching our bar remodel campaign this week at Pascals!
Pascal’s Coffeehouse is an initiative of the Christian Study Center. As a non-profit, we do our best to make ends meet and to take care of the space we have but it has come to a point that our coffee bar is in desperate need of a renovation. We are launching a bar remodel campaign to raise the $100,000 required to build a new bar, renovate the floors, and replace the roof of our building.
There are a couple ways to help, with varying levels of commitment.
1) I’d love to give a gift of $250+ and receive a Pascal’s mug with the new logo!
2) I’d love to give a gift of $500+ and receive a Pascal’s mug AND the only for donors t-shirt!
3) I’m excited to buy the newest shop t-shirt and/or tote bag knowing that all the proceeds go to the bar remodel.
4) I’ll be sure to come in on Thursdays, when all of the proceeds from my drink order that day go to the bar remodel.

Each semester at the CSC we offer a Directors Class for undergraduate and graduate students. Beginning this Wednesday, September 15th at 11:45 am, Associate Director Mike Sacasas will be teaching "Recovering the Body: An exploration of the centrality of the body to the human experience."
What does it mean to affirm the fundamental goodness of our bodies as a work of Gods creation? What difference does this affirmation make to how we think about human flourishing? What happens when our body is no longer the center of our experience, a situation often enabled by electronic and digital technologies?
Explore these questions and more with us tomorrow! We will be meeting at 11:45-12:35pm in the classroom at Pascals. Lunch will be provided!
Join us next Tuesday at 6:30 pm for our semester Kick-Off event!
There will be light refreshments, an orientation for our fall programming, and a talk given by our Executive Director, Dr. Richard Horner.
Come and celebrate the start of a new semester with us & see what the Study Center has to offer!
We are now just a week away from the start of our new semester of programs- check out our Semester at a Glance for a glimpse at what is going on at the Study Center this Fall!
Take particular note of the Evening Open House event happening next Tuesday. There will be refreshments, an overview of the semester, and a talk given by our Director, Richard Horner. We are excited to welcome you all into our building once again and hope to see you soon!
Pascal’s Coffeehouse at the Christian Study Center. What is the Christian Study Center?

We hope this building can be your home, whether it is your daily study spot or the place where you think with us about challenges created by contemporary culture.
Each semester we offer classes, reading groups, and seminars—— so keep an eye out for our “Semester at a Glance”! This will detail our upcoming programs and events - including some exciting guest lecturers. (: and maybe a Christmas concert?? Stay tuned.
