The LifeSouth 5K and Party in the Plaza is back!
Join us February 17th, 2024 at Bo Diddley Plaza as we celebrate blood donation in our community. We will have a timed 5K and 1-mile fun run through downtown Gainesville followed by live music and awards. The LifeSouth Bloodmobile will also be onsite!

ONE MORE WEEK to register online for the 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run! Online registration closes at midnight on February 15th. In person registration will be available at an increased price at LifeSouth Community Blood Centers Newberry Road on February 17th from 4-7pm and at Bo Diddley Plaza the morning of the race from 7:30-8:45am (registration price for the 1-Mile Fun Run will remain the same). Check out our event t-shirt and finisher medal available to all registered runners!

We’re excited to announce our post-race treats for all registered runners! After you cross the finish line, refuel with a chicken biscuit* from Chick-fil-A🐔. For runners 21 and older, grab a cold beer provided by Burkhardt Sales and Service🍺.

Still hungry? Not participating in the 5K or Fun Run? There will be plenty of options! Stop by Swamp Religion food truck, the Dominos Pizza or Sweetwater Organic Coffee booth until 2pm (or sold out). Visit Muñecas and Kava Gator located in Bo Diddley Plaza for food and drinks too!
*Vegetarian and gluten-free options will be available

The Gainesville Sports Commission is seeking assistance, and it's a chance to raise funds for our K-12 Donation Generation programming.

We love teaching our high school students! Did you know that 20% often blood donated in the U.S. comes from donors in the 16-24 age group?

A lab pioneer in the making! Romeo dressed as Charles Richard Drew, who founded the first large blood bank in America. Dr. Drew discovered methods to stabilize blood so that it could be stored for longer periods. Romeo's grandmother and her regular blood donations inspired him!

Robert Domen, an active-duty Marine who spent 5 months hospitalized at UF Health, will be participating in LifeSouth Race Weekend.

Robert said his doctors and nurses at UF Health told him to set a short-term goal. So back in November, he told his doctor that he wanted to run a 5K.

It's the final countdown to race day, and we're glad you're here for the last installment of provided by Elevated Running and Pacing, and they can't wait to see you on Saturday at the expo and Sunday at the race.

The final tip is two-fold! First, aim to get a good night's sleep on both Friday and Saturday; yes, Friday night's sleep is just as important as the night right before the event.

Secondly, give yourself an extra 15-20 minutes on race morning to find parking, get to the start line, warm-up, and line up with your pace group. If you've got any questions, that's the perfect time to introduce yourself to your pace and ask anything you want!

Pacers are there to make sure your race is fantastic, so no question is too big or too small.
