And the trend will continue - new information indicates companies are expected to raise auto insurance premiums by an average of 12.6% this year, following an 11.2% increase in 2023.

Drivers in Michigan, Florida, and Nevada are set to shoulder the highest premiums.

Fun for the whole family and enough room to enjoy brats and beer at our charming Haile Village Center. Five insurance companies are participating in the depopulation process with Citizens in October, and around 300,000 Citizens policyholders are receiving letters explaining their options.

Citizens policyholders who receive notice from Citizens about their policy being part of this depopulation process need to read their letter carefully to understand if they need to make a selection of a new company, and how to do that. Note the deadline to make a selection is October 5.

* Don’t take any action unless you can do it safely.

* Call your insurance company directly to report a claim as quickly as you can. Claim adjusters work claims based on when they are filed and the severity of the damage, so it is important to start the process right away.

*If it is safe to do so, please take lots of pictures and save receipts for any covered expenses.

* Your main responsibilities are to file the claim right away with your insurance company and help prevent any additional damage, if possible.

Rates are rapidly increasing in many areas of the country, not just Florida. This article about a recent study of auto insurance rates provides some insights about what's happening and why.

Note the following from the article:

* Insurers experienced record-breaking losses in 2022, contributing to higher auto insurance rates in 2023.

* The rising cost of labor, new vehicles, auto body parts, and mechanical parts are driving up premiums. The consumer price index for motor vehicle maintenance and repair has had double-digit surges since September 2022.

* Climate change is top of mind for insurers, with many pulling out of markets with greater climate risk, like Florida and California.

* Based on this study, Florida had the fourth highest annual car insurance rates in the first half of 2023 (compared to all other states' rates).

Virdell is a foodie and an avid cook. His Brazilian wife and their travels have only expanded his cooking repertoire. When Virdell isn’t working, he spends time with his wife Alessandra and their son Theo, or playing slow pitch softball in local adult leagues.
