It’s a rare occurrence when we come back from the Haile Farmer’s Market with our vegan and gluten free sourdough loaf but we have a few of these beauties left today. Take the opportunity to get one at Vine before we close at 4 pm today!

Our beloved lunch cook Cesar is in Columbia visiting his family for the first time in 5 years! Because he will be gone from 12/8-12/16 our lunch service will be modified during that period. Our schedule follows:

As you know, the latest challenge to our mission came in the form of anti-immigrant legislation in the statehouse. SB 1718, which went into effect July 1st, is sowing fear and confusion. Based on the lie that immigrants are a drain to our economy and healthcare system, it is scaring people away from their jobs and from vital healthcare services, and has cut off city and county funding for Community ID programs like ours.

So… we’re aiming to raise $20,000 to keep our programming going AND we’re going to correct the record on the true costs of discriminatory public policy while we do it.

$20,000 is the amount of funding that we are losing out on this year as a result of the new Florida law. For an organization that was, until about a year ago, run entirely by volunteers, that is a big scary number. But we also know that the folks we serve are facing some tough numbers too. So over the next 2 months we’re going to tell you about those numbers - and how we are serving immigrants and other marginalized communities through collaborative and tangible projects. We’re using local relationships and solutions to address far-reaching problems.

What?? Vine is open on Monday???
It’s true. We’re open one Monday a year. Monday 11/20/23 we’ll be open from 8 am - 6 pm to accommodate your early Thanksgiving needs. We’ll also be open normal hours on Tuesday and Wednesday but will be CLOSED Thursday, Friday and Saturday for a Thanksgiving break. Don’t forget to fill out your holiday order forms. Vine is looking for an experienced or professionally interested person for the position of pastry chef. This is a production job starting early morning. This position involves laminating croissants, baking cakes, pies, quiches, muffins, cookies, etc. Qualified applicants should email resume in response to this ad.

Vine is also looking for a motivated and dependable bread maker. Consistency, following procedures and the ability to work independently are traits that are HIGHLY valued. Here at Vine we’ve been watching the weather all day and have just decided not to attend market because there’s a chance of thunderstorms between 4 - 5 pm. The good news is that it looks like it might clear up around 5 so that’s a good time to check out the awesome vendors and music that the market has to offer.
