In total 7 roads were blocked by fallen trees along the way this morning... Seems like a hurricane came through! Good news is we still made every delivery! We appreciate you all thanks for giving us the opportunity!

Deliveries are going rough this morning. This is the fourth road blocked by a fallen tree, two had power lines down with them. Way too much rain in the last two days!
Sorry for everyone without power right now!

We've changed our labeling method! Many of you may have seen the change already but here's our intent.

1. Our operations are now done in a certified and inspected food facility, we no longer operate as a cottage food industry. While we've always followed food safety standards this change further demonstrates our commitment to food safety.

2. Many customers have asked and we want to recycle what we can; this new labeling method allows us to easily reuse these glass jars. No more hours of effort to remove labels. Recycle with us, just wash out the jar when you are done and leave it in the bag at the door at pick up. Note: we can only reuse the glass jar, the lid is not reusable.

I guess it didn't post when I tried on Saturday but we got super cold out here that night. We hit at least 19F maybe colder. It took all of the water we had to protect our new citrus planting. Bad news is we lost some of the earliest blueberry harvest and ~2 weeks of strawberry production, but good news is only modest damage to the exterior branches on the citrus!

What Kale is delicious?!? Ok, ok.... I have to admit it... Today is the first day ever that I tried kale. I know, how weird to grow it and judge it without ever trying it! I made this simple dish and am hooked:
Bunch of dino Kale
Green pepper
Portabella mushroom
~1/2 TBS of turmeric powder (I'll start offering this soon)
A clove of garlic
Dash of Lawry's seasoned salt

Chop it all up, quick stir fry in olive oil and we're eating 5 minutes later!

My personal favorite is the romanesco but the kids really like the purple cauliflower! Goodness we got down to 25F on the farm last night! Luckily we were able to get cold protection on the blueberries and most of the strawberries as well, without that we would have lost a large part of the crop! Unfortunately, the cold weather over the last weeks has really slowed down the strawberries though so the berries are going to be pretty limited this week. 😟

Shifts may include Early Morning - Evening including Saturdays.

Contractor Position
Pay includes projected route hourly + mileage rates ($0.50/mile)

Must have a reliable, clean vehicle with functioning A/C. Prefer SUV/VAN but sedans may be acceptable. Sorry Trucks will not work.

Shifts range from 2-4.5 hours long; currently 1-3 shifts per week with room for growth.

Must have clean driving record and demonstrate proof of acceptable auto insurance coverage.

Cleanliness (Both Personal and Vehicular) Required

The strawberries are here but still coming in pretty light. There will be a small amount available for this weekend's delivery but likely everyone won't get them just yet. Make sure you mark "YES" on your availability selections or you likely won't see them this time around. However, there are many berries ripening on the way so soon you'll see plenty of these freshly picked strawberries included your biweekly delivery. March - May is generally our peak strawberry production period. Biweekly members always get priority, if you're not a member yet signup at https://www.greenshirtag.com/register.aspx Depending on production we may open up the farm for you pick starting in late February or March which should also be the start of our Blueberry season! (Pictures to come...the early blueberries are flowering already)

The strawberries are doing great, and provided we don't get any freezes between now and the new year everyone can expect to see these delicious, freshly picked strawberries included in the biweekly service once we start back in January.
