This past weekend, UF NROTC had the privilege to participate with JU NROTC in their 3rd annual Major Moises “Mo” Navas challenge. JU NROTC organizes this event annually to honor the legacy of Major Navas who commissioned into the Marine Corps as a 2nd Lt. from JU in 2010 and tragically made the ultimate sacrifice while fighting Islamic State militants in Iraq on March 8th, 2020. The challenge included various physical competitions such as weightlifting, squad endurance challenges, push-ups, and pull-ups where midshipmen pushed each other and themselves to their limits.

Thank you Jacksonville University NROTC Unit for inviting us to honor the life of Major Navas!

Over the Fall 2023 semester SSgt Foster studied abroad in Japan!

“This past semester I studied abroad in Osaka, Japan. From traveling around Osaka and the nearby areas, to early mornings hitting the pavements, one of my main goals was to stay engaged all the time. I played some Rugby, tackled climbing Mount Fuji, competed in a dorm tournament and I tested my strength. This was my second time in Japan so I made sure to link with some old friends and along the way I made a bunch more new friends. Experience is a valuable resource and provides us with many opportunities to learn and grow. As leaders training to earn a commission and become officers in our respective communities, the value and experience gained from studying abroad is well worth it and will help us broaden our tool boxes. We are in a peoples business and it’s important as future officers to hone our abilities interacting with as many people as we can to better serve those we will lead and be led by. Go Gators and Semper Fi to the best damn unit.” -SSgt Foster
